Welcome to Lowtrow Cross, a small, friendly adults only caravan and camping site located in 4 acres of unspoilt countryside on the Somerset and Devon borders and on the edge of Exmoor National Park. Nestling in the Brendon Hills, Lowtrow Cross is 1mile north of Upton village on the B3190 situated between Wimbleball Lake and Clatworthy Reservoir.

A warm welcome awaits you at Lowtrow Cross. Our caravan and camping park is a
small, quiet, adults only site, catering for caravans,
motor homes, trailer tents and tents for adults over 16 .This site is set in a secluded area well away
from the Inn, with lovely views of the surrounding countryside.
We pride ourselves in our personal, friendly service and the cleanliness of the
site. Our aim is to keep everything as natural as possible while still offering
the essential facilities that will ensure your visit with us is a pleasurable
one.
There is no games room or entertainment here, we are however, only too happy to
show you the numerous walks and attractions on our doorstep, so you too can
share and appreciate our lovely county.
There are many species of birds nesting and feeding on site and the Buzzard,
common to Exmoor, can usually be seen circling overhead.

Static caravans
We have two, 4 berth well equipped static holiday caravans for hire
Unlike many larger sites the caravans are well spaced apart, surrounded by trees
and shrubs with pleasant views over the site.
The caravans make an excellent base for your visit and have everything you need
to ensure your stay is a comfortable one, whether touring or just relaxing on
site.
Both caravans have a shower room with heated towel rail, toilet
and hand basin, 1 double bedroom with clock/radio, 1 twin
bedroom, a hairdryer. Kitchen with full size oven and grill, 4 burner hob, fridge, microwave and electric toaster. Sitting/dining area with living flame coal effect electric fire, TV, video, mini hi fi, with plenty of books, videos and CDs.
Each caravan has its own patio area complete with table and chairs, perfect for
unwinding at the end of the day and watching the sun set over the moor, while
breathing in the clean Somerset air.
Guests may also use the freezer on site and make use of the
comprehensive tourist information available.
Exmoor Inn
Lowtrow Cross is adjacent to a traditional Exmoor Inn.
The 16th Century Inn is adjacent to the site and serves
delicious home cooked food and local real ales in a relaxed and friendly
atmosphere, which is independently run from the caravan site, is popular with both
locals and visitors; table reservations are recommended at weekends and during
the summer months.

Attractions
The perfect place for the country lover and an ideal base for touring this truly
rural part of England with glorious views whichever way you choose to go. The area which is teeming with wild life is perfect for
walking, fishing, cycling and riding. Lowtrow Cross
makes an excellent base for visiting the many varied local attractions.
These include, Dunster with it's medieval castle, Tarr Steps (one of the oldest
clapper bridges in the country) Dunkery Beacon the highest point on Exmoor,
Porlock, Minehead and The West Somerset Steam Railway.
Haddon hill a piece of heathland with it's own herd of Exmoor
ponies overlooks Wimbleball Lake, offers wonderful uncrowded
walking and is only a 5minute drive away or a 20 minute walk through St John's
Wood, where, if you go quietly you will see some of the red or roe deer that
frequent the area.
The easily reached summit affords superb all round views, while the more
energetic may wish to take the pretty walk around the Lake.
Fly fishing is available at both Wimbleball Lake and Clatworthy Reservoir, both just 10 minutes drive away and we have freezer facilities for your catch. There is good off road cycling in the surrounding area, while riders are catered for by stables with direct access onto the moor. Sailing and other water sports are available on Wimbleball Lake.
