Le Canard au Parapluie Rouge (the duck with a red umbrella!) is a lovely period country home situated on three and half acres of grounds and gardens.
The original part of the property dates back to the 17th century with additions to the main house during the 18th & 19th centuries.
The property has been completely updated with all modern conveniences and
offers several en-suite bedrooms. You will find the style of Le Canard a
delightful mix of eclectic furnishings from around the world creating a very
cosy & welcoming ambiance.
Our rates are very reasonable and we are flexible during January through to March.
Easy access from the A20. We are only 2 minutes from exit 19.
Accommodation
All of our sleeping accommodations are spacious and comfortable. Each bedroom is a full en-suite with a bath or shower and offer views of the garden. The decor in each bedroom is unique, cosy and comfortable with lots of pillows and cosy bedding!
All rooms are spacious enough to add a single
rollaway bed and room 3 can accommodate 2 single roll-away beds. All rooms have
an alarm clock radio, hair dryer and bottled water.
Bedroom 1 - “The French West Indies” has a Caribbean inspired
décor with a double bed, small seating area and is en-suite with a shower.
Bedroom 2 – This bedroom is not en-suite, however you have exclusive use of the hall bathroom featuring a ball & claw bathtub/shower. This bedroom has a double bed and a washbasin. It is spacious enough to add a single bed and is available at a reduced rate for families with an additional room at the full rate.
Bedroom 3- “The Manor Suite” is a large spacious room decorated
in French Provincial with a king size 4-poster bed, chaise lounge, Armour,
seating area with French doors overlooking the garden.
The en-suite bathroom
features a Jacuzzi bathtub.
Bedroom 4- “The French Countryside” is a sweet
cosy room with a
double bed and is en-suite with a bathtub/shower.
Bedroom 5-
“The
French Seaside” is a bright sunny room with a double bed and is en-suite with a
shower.
Dinning at Le Canard:-
is an enjoyable experience with a
unique variety of cuisine. Everyone dines together and it is not uncommon for
family, friends and some of our delightful French neighbours to join in.
Weather permitting meals are served outdoors in a garden setting. Breakfast consists of croissants and assorted breads, seasonal fruits, a selection of yogurts and cold cereals. Eggs are available upon request. Beverages of fruit juice, coffee, English and herbal teas are offered. Evening meals range in price from 14 – 20 euros per person. We can accommodate most tastes and dietary needs including vegetarian. You are welcome to enquire for sample menus. Coffee and tea is complementary through out your stay and our house wine is included with the evening meal. In addition, we have a good selection of spirits and a variety of wines for purchase.
We can offer lunch if you choose to relax in our garden
for the day or a picnic lunch for the road.

Le Canard offers a beautiful garden setting with an expansive lawn perfect for many activities, such as relaxing with a good book, snoozing in the hammock, scenic country walks, chess, scrabble, croquet, afternoon tea or aperitifs.
Activities around the area
Kayaking, hiking, windsurfing, fishing and several medieval villages-just to name a few.
Places to visit
Argenton sur Creuse - a delightful medieval village with a modern day hustle bustle.
Saint Benoit du Sault- an enchanting step back in time with its narrow cobbled streets and stunning view of the Cruese Valley.
Gargilesse- the stunning home of the famous author George Sands.
Eguzon Lake district- perfect for the water sports enthusiast.
Directions
The A20 provides the easiest access to Le Canard. Exit 19 and follow the signs for Celon. You cross over railroad tracks and arrive at a main junction, turn right for Celon and then again the first right as you enter the village. Stay to the right and we are towards the end of the lane on your left. From the exit you will notice our "Ducks" helping guide you to our door!
Tariffs
All tariffs are quoted in Euro Dollars. The tariff is for 2 adults per night. Included is a European Continental Breakfast and coffee or tea throughout your stay.
Payment:- We accept cash or cheques in Euros or Sterling and Paypal. We will notify you with your confirmation if a deposit will be required to confirm your stay.
