L'Augette is a quality guest house situated in a relatively undiscovered part of central France.

L'Augette was originally a farmhouse built in the nineteenth century, which has been completely refurbished by us during 2002 to provide 5 luxurious new guest rooms, all with private ensuite bathrooms.

Ideally situated to spend a relaxing holiday or to use as a stop off point on the way further south.

L'Augette is situated in an area traditionally known as Berry, comprising the modern- day departments of Indre and Cher.  It is a land of wheatfields, cattle farms, vineyards, ancient forests and lakes, rolling hills, peaceful villages and charming manor houses.  As it is slightly off the main tourist track, the region still offers a chance to sample the peace and tranquillity of rural France.

We are situated in the south eastern corner of the department of Indre in the centre of France, approximately 300 kilometres (200 miles) south of Paris.and are at the meeting point of three regions: Centre-Val-de-Loire (our region), Limousin and Auvergne.

L'Augette has a spacious garden and in the summer you can just relax and soak up the sun.

We are biker friendly (2 of the owners are bikers), and has plenty of parking space for both cars and   motorcycles.  We also have facilities for small on the spot repairs to bikes. 

Accommodation

We have double rooms with en-suite bathrooms.

Double  with ensuite shower room.

The bigger rooms also have large sofa beds and can accommodate up to 4 people, or allow 2 people sharing a room to each have a separate bed

All bathrooms contain bath, shower, wc, washbasin and bidet.  The shower room contains shower cubicle, wc and washbasin.

Lunch & Dinner :

Dinner consists of 4 courses and includes wine/beer, coffee and liqueur. Dinner costs 19.00 euros per person and is usually served around 19:30 - 20:00.

Light lunches (sandwiches, salads etc. with a drink) are available on request at a cost of 5.00 euros.

Please let us know before 11.00 if you require dinner for the same evening.  For Sunday dinner, please let us know by midday of the day before.

Gym

We have a small gym area for guests use, which includes a multi-gym, free weights, exercise benches, an abs trainer and a running treadmill.  You are welcome to use these facilities as long as you can show us a current gym membership card.  This way we can see that you know how to use the equipment, and it also keeps our insurance guy happy.

Directions

By road we are only a few hours from the western channel ports (St Malo, Cherbourg, Caen & Le Havre) and from the eastern ones (Calais & Dunkerque) we are still less than a day's drive away.

By rail there are good connections from Paris (Gare D'Austerlitz).  The journey to Châteauroux takes approximately two hours, and on request we can meet you at the station.

From the western Channel ports (St Malo, Cherbourg, & Caen ) head for Châteauroux via Alençon, Le Mans & Tours.

From the eastern Channel ports (Le Havre, Dieppe, Boulogne, Calais & Dunkerque) head for Châteauroux via Rouen, Evreux, Chartres and Orléans - we suggest that you avoid Paris and the infamous Peripherique at all costs.  Heading south from Orléans you need to follow the A71 as far as Vierzon, after which you take the A20 south as far as junction 12 - this is signposted for La Châtre, and will bring you onto the D943. Places to visit

The excellent road network also means that we are a good base for day trips and excursions to places a little further afield; The ancient cathedral city of Bourges,  the wine villages and Châteaux of the Loire and the volcanic national parks of the Auvergne are less than two hours drive away.  The roads are well maintained, empty and they also offer some of the best motorcycling in France

Rooms:  All prices are per room per night and include breakfast.  Sorry but we do not accept booking with pets

Rooms 1, 3, 4 & 5 - double   with ensuite bathroom.                                50.00€

Room 2 - double  with ensuite shower room.                                            45.00€

For each extra person (i.e. more than 2 in a room) there is an extra charge of 15.00€ per person per night.
