A spectacular 19th century villa and garden overlooking the old town of
Grasse, with fine views of the Mediterranean and the Cote d'Azur. La Rivolte
offers superb accommodation and an ideal base from which to explore a
fascinating area or simply have fun in beautiful park-like gardens with a 12.5m
jade green pool.
The house is unusual as it is used as a four-star bed and breakfast*, a rental villa and a school of poetry. We offer Bed & Breakfast from September/October until April/May. From May until September, the villa is available on a weekly rental basis.
Lounges
La Rivolte has 2 sitting rooms, both of which have a beautiful Moroccan tiled fireplace. The first sitting room has Satellite TV, Video and a large selection of videos for adults and children, an x box games console with several games, an upright piano and a games cupboard with several board and card games.
The second sitting room is more of a library with 2 large red sofas and a large selection of novels, guidebooks, maps and children's books. The coffee table in this room also converts into a miniature railway table.
Kitchens/Dining Rooms
The large kitchen/dining room is the most popular room. Spacious with plenty
of surfaces to prepare food, a large open fireplace with a spit-roast
The Kitchen is well equipped with two dishwashers, microwave and industrial cooker with two ovens and a large gas hob. Two refrigerators and a chest freezer as well as two washing machines and two tumble dryers. Two long beech tables handmade by a local carpenter and the floor to ceiling glass doors open out onto the terrace.
Accommodation
Sleeping a maximum of 18 people, La Rivolte is extremely popular for family get-togethers and large groups of friends. The villa has also been rented for art and poetry workshops and musical weeks.
Jasmin RoomThe master bedroom is a large double room with King size wrought iron bed and a sofa on the first floor with stunning views over the gardens, swimming pool and the bay of Cannes. King size wrought iron bed and a sofa.
The large bathroom has bath, shower, washbasin, bidet and Wc. The bathroom door leads out onto the spacious terrace with table and chairs. The terrace has sea views.
The Rose Bedroom
This large double room is on the 1st floor with a queen-sized bed. It has a shower and Wc Ensuite. Stunning views over the swimming pool and down to the bay of Cannes.
The Lilas Room
The Lilas room is a small room on the first floor between Rose and Jasmin with 4
children's' bunk beds, suitable for children who's parents are staying in either
This room has a beautiful small balcony with table and chairs and an old fresco
painted on the "ceiling" of the balcony. Fantastic views over the palms on the
terrace, the pool and the bay of Cannes.
The Camelia Bedroom
The Camelia bedroom is a long double bedroom on the second floor with bathroom Ensuite.
The large wrought-iron bed is covered with a Provencal "boutie" cover. Lovely views down to the Bay of Cannes and over the large palm trees on the terrace.
The Violette Room
The Violette room is a long room with twin beds and shower Ensuite. Views over the terrace and through the pine trees to the bay of Cannes.
It was from this window that the back cover photo of the B&B France guidebook was taken.
The Mimosa Bedroom
The Mimosa bedroom, on the second floor, is a delightful yellow twin bedroom with a Provencal olive border. It has a small marble fireplace and a bathroom Ensuite.
Both bathroom and bedroom windows overlook the terrace and swimming pool and have clear views down to the Mediterranean.
Lavande Room
The Lavender bedroom is on the second floor, is a small pretty blue bedroom with two single beds and views down to the Bay of Cannes. The shower and Wc for this room are just opposite the bedroom.Herb Cottage

Garden
The garden is surrounded by two hectares of Mediterranean gardens with many exotic plants, flowers and trees.
There is a pergola next to the swimming pool all with beautiful views.
Herb Cottage is an annex in the garden with a Provencal tiled roof containing one small double bedroom and a shower Ensuite.
There is a large wrought-iron bed and a marble table.
In front of Herb Cottage is a private patio with table and chairs and a private garden area with lavender, bougainvillea and geraniums.
Poetry Courses
Over the past few years Roger McGough, one of Britain's best-known poets, has held a highly successful residential poetry workshop at La Rivolte. The next workshop will be held in June 2004.

Cote d'Azur, Nice, Antibes, St Paul de Vence and Mougins are amongst just a few.

Skiing, Golf, and Walking.
There is not much you can't do within thirty minutes' drive of Grasse. Nice and Cannes are about that far away, Monte Carlo and Saint Tropez are about an hour's drive and Italy is not much further. Water sports, cannoning, fishing, gambling, gliding, paragliding, antiques, art galleries, restaurants, riding, golf, go carting, model flying - most kinds of fun can be found nearby.
The sea is about seven miles away as the crow flies, splendidly visible from
the house on a clear day. The Alps rise immediately above La Rivolte, offering
marvellous opportunities for walking - two famous "Grandes Randonnees" Great
Walks pass a few hundred metres above; one of them goes to Italy with sea-views
most of the way. Other local Alpine recreations include sport climbing,
Para-gliding and even skiing. One small ski resort, open in deep winter, is only
about half an hour's drive, while the more snow-sure resort of Isola 2000 is
about two hours away.
In spite of the range of activities available, guests often choose to spend much
of their time in the grounds of La Rivolte, talking, eating, reading on the
terrace or lazing by the pool.
There are also many museums to visit.
