Le Mas de Frayère

Our house is part of the little village of Le Rouret, about 10 kms from Grasse and 25 kms from Nice or Cannes and the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean.

Grasse has an old-fashioned and pleasant atmosphere about it and some excellent restaurants. It has long been famous for making perfumes and the fields of flowers that are used to make the essences are a lovely sight when they are in bloom. Monaco is 45 kms from here.

We have one Chambre D'hôtes with double bedroom. It is perfect to come back to after your day to relax for a while around the pool or to have a long siesta.

If you are here in the early evening, you may enjoy a glass of wine and some home made pissaladière, pizza appetisers, drizzled with chilli oil.

Breakfast

Breakfast includes home made jams, which is served on the terrace in front of your room, or in the garden which is scented with rosemary and thyme. Occasionally one of our two dogs may come in search of a friendly stroke.

The Chambre d'Hôtes

Ideal for two people the bedroom has a large double bed and is bright and sunny, decorated in the warm colours of Provence.  The room is shaded from the midday sun by an arched, private terrace.

Bathroom

The bathroom is decorated in pearly grey marble.

Swimming Pool

       

The pool is terraced and there are sunbeds where you can doze to the song of the cigales.

About the area

We are within easy reach of other villages and a good choice of restaurants, which serve a variety of Provençal dishes like, lamb with olives, stuffed vegetables and fresh pasta, seafood, generous salads and bouillabaisse fish soup, together with the wines of the Var.

Nice and Cannes has its own magic, especially the variety of shops along La Croisette in Cannes and the amazing flower market in Nice.

As we are less than an hour from Monaco, it is worth spending a day there visiting the palace and the beautiful Princess Grace Gardens or the oceanographic museum and you can't leave without visiting the casino!

Along the coast are the lovely Esterel hills, and the Lerins Islands close to Cannes and the Levant Islands near Hyeres have a very typical provencal landscape. The lovely old village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence and the Maeght Arts Foundation there are worth a visit.

Biot which is famous for making glass is also worth a detour and Antibes has the famous Picasso museum.

The Cannes Film Festival and the Monte-Carlo Grand Prix are in May or early June.

Activities

There are several excellent 18-hole golf courses a few minutes drive from away at Opio, St Donat, the Grasse Country Club and the excellent courses at Cannes and Mougins, also there are many tennis courts.

As we are so close to beaches with excellent water sports facilities, you can choose between sailing, windsurfing and jet-skiing, or go scuba diving, amongst other things.
