La Sabliere is a charming Charentaise farmhouse nestling in the wooded Gatine countryside in the department of Deux Sevres (79) convenient for visiting the regions of Northern Poitou,  Charentes and Southern Pays de la Loire in Western France.

Situated between Bressuire and Parthenay, close to route N149 for travelling from the Channel ports - Cherbourg 5 hours, St Malo 4 hours - La Sabliere is also convenient for the airports of Poitiers and La Rochelle, which are an easy hour's drive away.

La Sabliere is over 200 years old and constructed of limestone and granite,  and  is built round a circular courtyard and is believed to have been the focal point for peasant farmers to meet to trade their livestock and produce.

Some modernisation of the house has taken place, whilst retaining its character and charm,

Behind the cow barn in a secluded corner nestles a small pond inhabited by carp and frogs, where you are invited to relax with a book, or sit and watch the buzzards riding the thermals overhead.  As the sun sets in the evening, enjoy a game of boules in the courtyard or feed the fish in the pond.

The summers here are long and hot, and the winters are short and mild, similar to Southern France.
