Holiday  Bed and Breakfast

 VANZAY, Poitou Charentes.
 

All year round accommodation in a carefully restored farmhouse with large enclosed front courtyard and large enclosed rear and side gardens. It has been divided into three with a gîte at either end. The English owners, Glynne & Lorna Helliwell, live in the centre together with the Bed & Breakfast ensuite room.

Accommodation:- Large carpeted room retaining original oak beams and velux window in roof, with ensuite shower room centrally heated in winter. Tea and coffee making facilities.  French double bed and three-quarter corner bed. Cot if required.

2 + child ........... 58 euros
Baby in cot ......... 5 euros

Including breakfast (fruit juice, cereal, croissants, bread, jam, tea or coffee

Evening Meal 3-course including wine and coffee (must be booked in advance)   10 euros per person

Outside:-  Above ground pool and all the usual garden furniture, including loungers,  garden swing and barbecue. We have a large selection of toys, play equipment, games and paddling pool for small children.

Private garden to side of gite accessed from kitchen.

There is also a large garden area for ball games and badminton, etc.

We also have two Gites:-     Each gite has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 8, has its own private enclosed garden area at the rear of the property and above ground heated pool. Shared courtyard to front with plenty of parking space.

The English owners, Glynne & Lorna Helliwell, live in the centre together with the Bed & Breakfast ensuite room.

AMENITIES: - Shops:  there is an epicerie (general shop) in the village (2 minutes walk from gite) with an excellent range of items.  There is a Sitis (Spar type) shop in Chaunay (6 kms) which has a butcher and fresh produce.

Supermarkets:  Intermarche at Lezay (13 kms) Couhe (10 kms), SuperU at Sauze Vussais (13 kms) Leclerc at Ruffec (20 kms) Auchan on the road to Poitiers and other large Hypermarkets in Poitiers.

Markets:  these are morning only 
Chaunay - Monday
Lezay - Tuesday, Saturday 
Civray - Tuesday and Friday
Melle- Friday
St Soline (local produce only) Sunday in July and August

Throughout the year there are various car boot type markets in the area on Sunday.

Restaurants:-  There is a hotel with restaurant at Chaunay and several restaurants at Couhe.

For the motoring enthusiast there is Go Karting and Cross-Car at Rouille (about 20 mins drive) and a motor bike/car racing circuit about 45 minutes drive -

 Places to visit:- Poitiers,   Angouleme, Futuroscope, St Macoux (near Civray),  Melle, Celles-sur-belle (near Melle),  Vallee des Singes, and  Marais Poitievin.

Beaches - Should you wish to visit the coast it is approximately an hour and a half's drive to La Rochelle or Royan.
