At La Morière you could spend your holidays on Bed & Breakfast basis, (Chambres d'Hôtes in French) or on basis of half or full board. La Morière welcomes individuals as well as groups. Quality holidays in a relaxed atmosphere is our aim at La Morière.
La Morière is situated just 25 km from the world famous Mont St. Michel and only 25 km from the historical city of Saint Malo. About 2 km inland lies the farm at the Bay of Mont St. Michel with its extensive beaches and its remarkable differences in tides.
La Morière lies in the marshy area of the community of Mont Dol. This small mountain is in the middle of this marshy area and should not be missed
La Morière is set amongst green fields, flowers, apple
trees, walnuts, a kitchen garden, plus a paddock for horses, chickens and
the goat.
Accommodation
In the former living part of the old farm you will now find a big kitchen where the meals are also served. The cuisine is in Breton style, diverse and of good quality. Next to the kitchen you will find a cosy lounge where you can read a book, join a game, play the piano or just listen to some fine music.
On the first floor of this part of the building there is the Yellow Room, a family room for max. 4 persons with its own toilet and shower next to it.
On the second floor you will find 5 rooms and 2 bathrooms and toilets. All guest rooms are unique and of simple beauty.
The Old Stable - Wheelchair accessible
The Old Stable is next to the living part which has been transformed into accommodation that is accessible for 2 wheelchairs plus partners (max. 4 people). This accommodation is totally adapted to the needs of people in a wheelchair like a flat floor, high and low beds, a bathroom and toilet with the necessary amenities. This apartment contains two bedrooms and a small lounge. Special holiday arrangement can easily be organised to suit individual needs.
The Old Hayloft
The old hayloft is now renovated into a dormitory with 12 single beds. This is an attractive accommodation for low budget travellers and groups.
Gypsy Wagon
On the premises of La Morière you will also find a romantic covered gypsy-wagon which can be used as a sleeping room. This romantic wagon has room for maximum two adults and one child.
At La Morière it is also possible to bring your own horse or pony. We have a paddock for your animal. In the neighbourhood you can enjoy wonderful trips on the extensive beach for example, which is around 2 km from La Morière.
Rooms for Special Occasions
In the building opposite, were cider was once made and stored, you will find two big rooms for special occasions. The former cider cave, LAKAAF, serves now as party room with a little stage in it for musical performances, theatre or dance
On the first floor there
is LES SALTIMBANQUES: an exotic and tasteful decorated room that can also
perfectly serve weddings, birthday parties, reunions, workshops, family
gatherings, dinners etc. These two rooms can be rented together or separately.
You can also hire the kitchen with its staff if desired as an added extra
Terrace Room
In the same building opposite the main house there is also LE GRAND ABRI. The room that was used to park the carriages and other country vehicles is now completely changed and decorated into a fairytale terrace-room. Here you have the possibility to have dinner outside or to enjoy a barbecue. There is also a small court for petanque (boules) where you can practice your skills.
For creative people we have also an artist's studio at La Morière that can be used for drawing, painting or pottery holidays.
Pets are allowed at La Morière for a small fee.

can receive up to 50 guests where you will be assured of good quality food &
drink, real music and entertainment can be arranged for you. La Morière is
also a destination for conferences and accommodation for workshops and
training. At La Morière your organisation could bring groups together in a
relaxed and comfortable atmosphere in this inspiring region of Brittany.
Painting & Drawing
La Morière can also offer you courses in drawing and painting.
For people who are not able to spend their holiday independently we can offer special aid and personal assistance after consultation. La Morière is able to organise active holidays with sportive excursions with or without a combination of creative activities, like pottery, drawing, painting or music. By special request, we can tailor this holiday package for you
The program of this course of art together with our Chambres d'Hôtes is tuned to atmosphere and balance. You do not need to be experienced in drawing or painting because the program is organised in such a way that everybody can work at his/her own pace
Contents of the course - The starting point of the course is that painting and drawing is something to discover your inner self with. The process of doing things in a short period needs to be of more importance than the final result of a piece. The decisions you take should be balanced. We will teach you to work from your perspectives instead of limitations and we will assist you in this decision of process. The program contains elements of how to recognize and remove habits which have previously limited your work. Through assignments you will learn to improve your observation methods and also the development of swift draw and paint movements. By means of different materials we will pay attention to the techniques, colours, composition, perspective, form and attitude.
Day programme - The day starts with a fine breakfast on the terrace of La Morière where after the program of that day will be explained by your instructor. We work in small groups or on individual basis. You will be receiving immediate feedback on your actions from your instructor. The changing surroundings and the unique sky of this land lend themselves perfectly to be immortalized. You will work at your own pace. Sometimes we will be working somewhere in the field where we will also have a picnic lunch. Another time we could find ourselves at the farm, on a terrace close to sea or in a small fisherman's village where we also enjoy the lunch. This is the best place in France to enjoy oysters and mussels and all other "fruits de mer". In the evening we will have dinner at La Morière and discuss the day with a fine glass of wine.
Materials - You could bring your own materials with you but in case you do not have any, you will be allowed to make use of our materials at a small contribution.
Dates of the course - The course runs from Sunday to Saturday. Wednesday is a day off. Dates in 2004: 3 July – 11 July
Management and organisation are in the hands of Marga Muller. She specializes in supervising activities and has also much experience in working with the mentally handicapped and psychiatric disorders. Hans Kop Jansen is a permanent staff member as well. Hans is an artist and is also very adept at setting up and supervising creative projects. An avid collector of objects from the past and present, moreover he is also an excellent cook!
