Bienvenu à (Welcome to ) "La Renardais"

"La Renardais" - Elegant Chambres d'Hôtes / Bed & Breakfast (3 stars) in Brittany France - Ideal for a short break/weekend, or for your main holiday.
"La Renardais" an elegant 19th century stone
built country house, is situated on the outskirts of Plouër-sur-Rance, a pretty
riverside Breton village.
The House has been tastefully decorated, the original beams and stonework blending together comfortably with more modern furnishings.
Situated near the river Rance, we are ideal for visiting Mont St. Michel (40mins) and St Malo (15mins) with its daily sailings to the UK and Channel Islands, not to mention the beautiful medieval riverside town of Dinan (10mins). Dinard airport, with daily flights to London and Nottingham (2006), is only 15 minutes away. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the private terrace set in a lovely secluded floral garden.
The house has been recently restored by us both to preserve it's original charm, and to offer modern-day comforts to our guests.

The accomodation comprises four spacious en-suite bedrooms with all modern comforts in this stylish 19th century country house, which has recently been tastefully modernised to preserve its character; you can see the original beams and stonework in the dining room, together with a traditional fireplace in the lounge.

The dining room has a parquet floor overlaid with colourful oriental rugs, not to mention a well stocked bar and wine cellar. The walls are adorned with our collection of fine original water-colours.

About the area
The Côtes d'Armor is fairly steeped in the traditions of the sea, which
together with farming (both agricultural and horticultural) formed the basis of
society in this area. Tourism is a relatively recent arrival on the activity
scene and hence, with happily only a few exceptions, you will find the region
largely non-commercialised - often a blessing in this day and age.
Plouër is a thriving country community with its own schools, shops, supermarket, garages, restaurants, and recently a popular sailing marina on the banks of the Rance. There are many fine country houses, three Châteaux, and also modern properties for the younger people who make Plouër very much a living community. Here you will find a happy blend of tradition and the contemporary. Plouër is certainly not just a holiday dormitory town which closes down at the end of September, sadly like a number of the coastal resorts today, but an all year round attraction.
You will find much of interest not just on the coast or the river banks, but also in the countryside as well which abounds with fine properties, including numerous Châteaux and Manoirs, and lush well-tended pastures.
Activities around the area
Obviously with the region's seafaring tradition, all water sports are abundantly available nearby - sailing, windsurfing, fishing, canoeing, and swimming either in the sea or in the numerous local pools.
For golf enthusiasts there is a wide choice within an hour's drive in any direction, and there are 3 fine "championship standard" courses within 20 minutes of Plouër: a links course at Dinard and 2 excellent inland courses at "Le Tronchet" and the "Château des Ormes".
Cycling / VTT is very popular and the area is ideal for this. Tennis and horse riding are easily available locally. There is also a major Go-Karting circuit (with Kart hire available) about 20 minutes away near Saint-Malo.
For the more leisurely, you can relax on one of the local pleasure boats or "vedettes" which cruise the river and the coast nearby - one even offers a "gastronomic experience" whilst plying up and down the river Rance during lunch-time, and even more spectacularly by flood-light at night.
For the children there are fun parks at Cobac and Bidibulle, plus local fairs and circuses often visit the area.
Restaurants:- There are many restaurants, bistros and brasseries providing food for all tastes, budgets, and ages. The mouth-watering local specialities include crêpes and galettes (Breton sweet and savoury pancakes) which are delicious with a "bolée" of locally brewed cider. And of course there is sea food! The oysters from Cancale are world famous, and no meal would be complete without a dish of local "moules" which are astonishingly inexpensive. Top of the range are the sea food platters ("plateau de fruits de mer") which can and often do take all day to eat.
