About the area
The area around Estival is as rich and diverse as one could wish for. The region is steeped in history ranging from the famous Mont St Michel to the wonderful medieval town of Dinan, commonly know as the "Jewel" in Brittany's crown
If the sea is what you enjoy - and who doesn't enjoy a break at the seaside - then you will not be disappointed. This area is crammed full of magnificent beaches - St Cast le Guildo, St Lunaire, Dinard and St Malo to name just a few. There are literally miles and miles of glorious beaches, others have rock pools where you can enjoy looking for sea life as well enjoying a well earned rest on the golden sands.
If the countryside is more to your liking then you will not be disappointed either. There are absolutely miles of walks, some of which pass through the many forests that we have here in our part of Brittany. We even have a forest that is said to have once been King Arthur's!
The little historical towns that are scattered all over our area make for great days out. We have a town nearby which is famous for its book shops, another that is getting more popular each year for the artists who live there. Each town prides itself on its ancient church and history, they are waiting there for you to discover them yourself.
Eating out
If eating out is more your idea of a good holiday then you most definitely have come to the right place. Cancale, just a few miles east of St Malo is rightfully famous for its locally-caught oysters and mussels. There are enough sea food restaurants in this small town for you to eat at a different one each day for a couple of months or more.
For meat as well as fish courses, Dol de Bretagne has many restaurants which we can recommend, as has Combourg, Dinan and St Malo. Or you can get lost in the countryside and discover your own little gem of a restaurant to eat at!
Some of the many leisure interests that are local to Estival include:
Three golf courses (tee times can be reserved if required), Cycling routes Country walks, Country walks,
Fishing (sea or freshwater) Historical tours, Activity and water parks Museums (including the local cider museum!
Estival is located just off the N137, 10 miles South of St Malo and 7 miles east of Dinan. When travelling from the UK, the recommended easiest route is to sail from Portsmouth into St Malo, but you can also use other ports such as Caen, Cherbourg or Roscoff which are all less than two hours from Estival and easy driving.
