Sandra and Dave Franklin welcome you to their 200 year old beamed village house, which has been recently fully restored situated  in Guern, in the Morbihan area of central Brittany, which boasts over 6 bars and restaurants. Our prices are low all the year round.

Accommodation

We have a number of rooms all of which are en-suite.

Cot available for those with very young children.

About the area

The area is ideal for walking, cycling and birdwatching.

Golf, fishing and sightseeing is not far away.

A ten minute drive will take you to the medieval town of Pontivy where you can take a trip on the canal which runs through from Nantes-Brest.

See the many shops and visit the Monday market, also see a magnificent 15th century castle.

The sea is only 40 minutes drive away with good coastal walks and beaches, sample the local fish restaurants around the coastline.

BRITTANY

Strong Celtic roots provide this region with its own distinctive traditions evident in the local Breton costume and music, the religious festivals and the cuisine, featuring crepes and cider. Brittany offers 800 miles of rocky coastline with numerous bays, busy little fishing villages and broad sandy beaches dotted with charming seaside resorts. Inland you find wooded valleys, rolling fields, moors and giant granite boulders, but most impressive is the wealth of prehistoric sites, notably the Carnac standing stones. Many castles and manor houses, countless chapels and old villages provide evidence to Brittany's eventful history and wealth of traditions.

Cuisine of the region is Fish and shellfish, lobsters and various sorts of crabs, prawns and shrimps.

Other specialties are wafer biscuits and butter biscuits.

Wine - This is cider country. Creperies serve cider in pottery type cups.

Carnac - 3,000 standing stones (menhirs), the last erected in 2,000BC

Dinan - Historical walled town high above the River Rance

Perros - Guorec-leading resort of the 'Pind Granite Coast

Rennes - capital of Brittany, medieval streets, half timbered houses, Brittany Museum

St Malo - historical walled city fishing port and yachting harbour.

Treguier - former Episcopal city, 13th - 19th centuary St Tugdual cathedral.
