St George's Hotel  is ideal for all visitors whether here for pleasure or on business. We are well placed for touring the area with easy connections onto the A64 for east coast routes to Scarborough and the North Yorkshire Moors and also the A59 for the Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate.                                             Our Reception

We are situated in a quiet cul-de-sac by York's beautiful racecourse, which is as pleasant for a scenic walk as it is for the races and just a ten minute walk away to the ancient walls surrounding the City with its many and varied places of historical interest.

For the less energetic there is a regular bus service to all parts of the city.

Our ten en-suite bedrooms offer a variety of accommodation:- We have family, double, triple and four poster rooms, all with emphasis on cleanliness and comfort

All rooms have:-  full central heating, colour television, tea and coffee making facilities and radio alarms

For the convenience of the elderly or infirm we have a bedroom on the ground floor.

Parking

There is ample parking available either on the road directly outside or in our private enclosed car park.

How to get here

By Car from the South:-   M1/M18/A1M/A1 Leave the A1 on the A64 for York and Scarborough, then leave the A64 on the A1036 with the sign for York West. Travel towards York, passing the Post House Hotel and the Swallow Hotel on your right. You will then see York Racecourse on your right. As the Racecourse is coming to an end, watch for the  Fairmount House on the left. St George's Place is on the next turn left.

By Car from the North:-  A1 South Leave at the junction of the A59 for York, travel towards York City until you pass through an iron girder bridge, then take the right turn at the sign for Selby & Racecourse. You will come to a set of traffic lights - turn right. Travel down the hill until you see the Newington Hotel on your left. St George's Place is the next turn right.
