Neil and Theresa extend a warm welcome to all Leonard’s Field House past and future guests.
Relax and unwind at our comfortable Victorian Guest House nestling in the charming Cumbrian market town of Keswick, surrounded by breathtaking, magnificent mountains and outstanding scenery. Leonard’s Field House takes it's name from the area on which the property stands, and is one of the earliest properties built in this area of Keswick.
We aim to create and maintain a real ‘home from home’ atmosphere
offering traditional values in comfortable surroundings and great value for
money.

We are ideally placed to discover the charm of the market town and it’s many attractions, restaurants and eating establishments, whilst situated only a 2 minute level walk from the centre of Keswick in the heart of the Lake District National Park.
Nearby are the lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite and many popular walking routes can literally be started from the front door. As outdoor enthusiasts and keen walkers ourselves, we are well situated to provide assistance on planning your stay in the Lake District. We have spent many enjoyable years exploring Keswick and the surroundings that encompass the Lake District, be it on foot, cycle or by car, and have acquired a wealth of experiences and knowledge to share with you, our guests, and enable us to help you make the most of your visit. Treat yourself with a relaxing break, however long or short, and we promise to pamper you with first-class service, superb accomodation and hearty breakfasts, Keswick and in particular Leonard’s Field House really is a special place to while away those hard earned holiday hours. We look forward to offering you a warm Cumbrian welcome.
Leonard's Field house is one of the few guest houses in Keswick to specialise in Gluten Free cooking.
Accommodation
We're delighted to have recently been awarded the Visit England breakfast award in recognition of the finest quality ingredients, presentation and service of our hearty breakfasts. You will be able to relax and unwind in one of our individually designed bedrooms each with full en-suite facilities. You will find rooms decorated to a very high standard and tastefully furnished with quality fixtures and fittings. A very big emphasis is placed on high standards of cleanliness and comfort.
All
rooms offer remote control colour televisions, alarms and hospitality trays,
complete with locally made handmade biscuits. We also provide hairdryers,
complimentary toiletries and welcome folders providing local information. An
iron and board are available to borrow during your stay and on the rare occasion
it rains, we can dry your waterproofs and boots in our drying room ready for you
next day’s adventures! Leonard’s Field House is centrally heated throughout to ensure warmth and
comfort all year. Our radiators are individually thermostatically controlled.
There are extra blankets in each room and extra pillows available on request.
There are double en-suites, one en-suite Triple room (tariff dependant on
number of occupants) and one flexible twin/double room with its own private
bathroom, containing a bath for those guests who prefer a long hot soak after a
hectic day’s activities.

Most rooms face west and enjoy a sunny outlook from midday to late evening. Rooms at the back have views of Latrigg and beyond. There are various views of Skiddaw and Walla Cragg from several rooms occupying the top floors.

As Leonard’s Field House is located in one of the quieter streets, there is less noise pollution in terms of traffic/pedestrians than those properties located on the busier thoroughfares, whilst still enjoying the benefit of being a short level stroll from the hustle and bustle of central Keswick. Although we provide keys to the Guest House and rooms, allowing free access throughout the day, we do ask guests to allow us a couple of hours in the morning to service your room, when tea, coffee and biscuits are replenished and fresh towels, as necessary, can be provided.
Start the day from the comfort of our light and airy dining room. We pride ourselves on good wholesome food all locally supplied. Our hearty Full Cumbrian breakfasts set you up for the day and we offer many variations on the traditional ‘bacon and eggs’. In fact, our breakfast is so good, in May 2010 we won the Visit England 'Egg Cup' award in recognition of the finest quality ingredients, presentation and service. This award was again won for a second time in June 2011.
Crucially, at Leonard’s Field House we appreciate everyone is different and to complement our award winning breakfast menu, a full range of gluten free breakfast options are also available: you can find out more information on our gluten free and coeliac page. Simply make your request when booking. There is no extra charge for this facility.
We offer Evening Meals at selected times of the year. Please ring first to find out availability, as we tend to fit them around our various commitments. One reason we do not offer evening meals as standard is because of the large choice of restaurants and cafes in Keswick town centre.
Activities around the area
