Marsden Mount is a lovely country house situated in Maresfield Park, which is a private estate, originally owned by the Shelley family in the 1800s and approached through the very attractive Lodge shown below.
Maresfield is just 30 miles from Gatwick and 15 miles from Newhaven and the ferry to France. The coastal towns of Brighton and Eastbourne are 20 miles away and the historical towns of Lewes and Royal Tunbridge Wells are just a short drive away.

The property is ideally situated for providing accommodation for guests
attending weddings & other functions at the very popular local country mansions
- Ashdown Park Hotel, Buxted Park, Horsted Place and Newick Park.
Accommodation
There is a very pleasant guest dining room and lounge with colour TV, videos, board games and a good selection of books. A substantial full English or Continental breakfast is provided, with a vegetarian option.
All three bedrooms are situated on the first floor, overlooking the gardens, and are approached via a traditionally panelled hall, stairway and landing.
Each room has been individually decorated and has central heating, double glazing and either an en-suite or private shower/bathroom.
There is also a colour TV and video, ceiling fan, hairdryer and tea/coffee
making facilities.

An iron and ironing board are available on request.
There is a comprehensive breakfast menu .
The Chequers Hotel, a Georgian coaching house, is just a two minute walk away
and offers a selection of local ales and excellent meals.

Marsden Mount is an ideal base for touring. In addition to the many
attractions held by the Ashdown Forest, there are over 50 other places of
interest within easy reach.

Ashdown Forest: Pooh Corner shop and Pooh Bridge; The Llama
Park; The Forest Visitors Centre; Heaven Farm; plus there are plenty of walks
through the forest and along the Wealden Way, the old railway line between
Groombridge and East Grinstead
Castles: Hever; Leeds; Arundel; Herstmonceux; Lewes; Bodium and
Pevensey.
Gardens: Sheffield Park; Leonardslee; Nymans; Borde Hill; High
Beeches and Groombridge Place
Houses: Bateman's; Chartwell; Michelan Priory; Wakehurst Place;
and Penshurst Place.
Wildlife: Bentley Wild Fowl & Motor Museum; Drusillas Park;
Llama Park; Middle Farm and Seven Sisters Sheep Centre.
The Seaside: Eastbourne; Brighton; Worthing; Hastings; and
Bexhill.
Sport: Brighton Bears Basketball.
Plus other places worthy of consideration are: The Pantiles at
Royal Tunbridge Wells, The Royal Pavilion at Brighton, The Bluebell and Lavender
Railways, Barkham Manor and Barnsgate Manor Vineyards, and for the keen golfer,
the excellent courses
at East Sussex National Golf Course.
