About The Area

Amersham is a thriving town, with everything and more than you could wish for. There is an abundance of local pubs and Restaurants to chose from. When visiting the area there is the Amersham Museum.

Amersham's Museum

A 500 year old house standing in the centre of the historic High Street is the home of Amersham's
Museum of Local History with its own Herb Garden.

In the Museum you will be introduced to Amersham's history in a collection of exhibits from fossil and archaeological finds to the town's more recent past.
You will discover the stories of the "Amersham Martyrs" and the Medieval wall paintings, the coaching town and attendant wheelwrights, old local crafts of lace, straw plait work and chair making.

The Museum's archive includes a large number of photographs going back to Victorian times and many of these are now available for everyone to see on a new touch-screen computer system.
