John & Diane Ware extend a warm and friendly welcome to all visitors to Hunters Moon a 17th Century cottage offering bed and breakfast accommodation on the edge of Bridestowe village.

Originally two workers cottages built of local stone and cob Hunters Moon has been sympathetically extended to provide modern day comforts but still retaining the charm of days gone by with oak beams and inglenook fireplaces with their original bread ovens.
 

Bridestowe is a small rural village nestled in the West Devon countryside on the very edge of Dartmoor National Park.  Hunters Moon is an ideal base for touring Devon and Cornwall being centrally located and within easy reach of the A30, or escape from the 'rat-race', relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of our lovely countryside.   Bridestowe offers the walker and cyclist wonderful surroundings being situated on both the Two Castles Trail and the National Cycle Network the Granite Way and has a 17th Century Inn, a 15th Century Church and a General Stores with Post Office.

Accommodation

All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, colour television, clock radio alarm, toiletries, hairdryers, towels and bathrobes, and have individually controlled central heating.

Lydford:-  Double Room with En-suite shower cubicle, wc and washbasin.

Clovelly:-  Double Room with room for a small single bed and/or travel cot.

Tamar:-    Is a Twin Room.

There is a private Guest Bathroom with bath, shower cubicle, wc and washbasin.

We are a Non Smoking establishment.

Breakfast:-  Home cooked food using local produce where possible and our own fresh eggs and homemade preserves.

Three course Evening Meal:-  (set menu) is available as an optional extra and should be arranged at least 24 hours in advance if possible.

Around the area

Approximately 20 miles Northwards is the the rugged Cornish and North Devon Atlantic coastline and beautiful sandy beaches. To the South lies Plymouth with its Naval Dockyard, Dartmouth, Torquay, Looe and Polperro and the the English Channel.

The ancient town of Tavistock with its mediaeval Abbey are only a short drive away with a daily Pannier Market and fortnightly Farmers Market. Also the ancient ruins of Okehampton and Lydford Castles, Dartmoor and its breathtaking scenery and the famous Dartmoor ponies.

Beauty spots such as Lynmouth, Westward Ho!, Clovelly, Bude, Boscastle and Tintagel are all within comfortable reach.

Within 1 hour's drive or less are the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Garden House, RHS Rosemore, Paignton Zoo, Plymouth Aquarium, Morwellham Quay and many National Trust properties and gardens including Cotehele, Saltram, Lydford Gorge, Lanhydrock and Castle Drogo.

The surrounding area offers ample golfing, horse riding, canoeing, sailing, fishing, cycling and walking facilities plus much more.

Bridestowe is situated on the Two Castles Trail and the National Cycle Network The Granite Way.

How to find us

From Exeter leave A30 at Sourton Cross exit and follow signs for Bridestowe. As you enter the village Hunters Moon is first on the left,

From Cornwall leave A30 at Liftondown and follow West Devon Drive through Lifton and Lewdown until you see the sign for Bridestowe. Hunters Moon is first on the left as you enter the village.
