In the heart of rural Wiltshire, minutes from the ancient mounds and henges of Salisbury Plain, close to the spires of Salisbury & Winchester, and an hour from beautiful Georgian Bath, lies The Angel at Hindon.

A beautifully-restored eighteenth century coaching inn, The Angel was originally known as the Grosvenor Arms. Prior to its construction in 1750 a medieval inn.

Offering many original features, wooden floors, beams, huge stone fireplaces, and comfy leather chairs, alongside our very contemporary and elegant brasserie, The Angel has a mood for everyone, whether traditional or modern.

Enjoy eclectic, innovative and inspirational menus, designed by our double-rosette-winning chef, Matthew Laughton, produced from only the finest local and seasonal ingredients, and a refreshing and elegant selection of fine wines from around the world.

Featuring original features, and furnished in harmony with its 18th century origins as a coaching house, each room retains an individual charm, while offering the sumptuous comforts of modern living.

All prices are inclusive of our hearty Wiltshire breakfast of organic sausage, maple-cured bacon, free-range eggs (from the village) and fresh tomato, mushrooms, juices and a selection of herbal and fruit teas and coffees.

Only the finest, local seasonal ingredients are used in every dish on our menus, whether the Brasserie A La Carte or the Lunchtime sandwich selection.

Our fine wines are representative of both the new and old worlds, and offer something for almost every palate.

The warm, relaxed bar, with comfy leather sofas, rustic oak tables & chairs and newspapers offer a perfect retreat in which to relax with a pint of real ale or cold glass of Chablis.

Wiltshire

Wiltshire is a beautiful county of rolling mists over the Salisbury plain, ancient British settlements, Druid mystery, breathtaking countryside and unique culture, both ancient and contemporary. Visit the rural ancient gem of Amesbury, just two miles from Stonehenge, or medieval Downton on the River Avon, home of the 16th century ‘Cookoo Fair’, and the Saxon Moot, six miles south of Salisbury.

Then there are the fascinating ancient villages of Mere & Wilton, just a few miles west of Salisbury, and minutes from Hindon! Mere nestles beneath the downs, and sits a few miles from the Somerset and Dorset borders – it has a wealth of flora, fauna, ancient secrets and glorious gardens & houses. Wilton is the ancient capital of Wessex, and gave its name to the county of Wiltshire!

Although we’re deep in the rolling plains and downs of rural Wiltshire, we’re not that difficult to find!

From Salisbury, follow the A36 north to A303 east. Follow A303 east until Keysley Down junction. Take A350 south for circa 2 miles. Hindon turning on left.
