The Denes is a licensed 4 Diamond Guesthouse situated in Lynton, North Devon England. Lynton and its twin village Lynmouth are enveloped within the Exmoor National Park and occupy an area of outstanding natural and coastal scenery.

The Denes is one of 'Devon's Hidden Places' and you can discover its Edwardian charms as our previous guests already have. Sally and John McGowan extend their warm and friendly greeting to  whether you are visiting for the first time or a returning guest. The Guest's TV lounge has its own  feature fire place. Our bedrooms are spacious and provide comfortable accommodation with some  original paintings that tastefully complement the decor. At The Denes we can offer you bed and breakfast accommodation or half-board for as long or short as you want; whatever your holiday requires. B&B from £18.50 to £24 per night.

Denes Guesthouse is ideally situated to obtain a real Exmoor experience either by driving across the moors or preferably walking them. And before you leave  you must absorb the surreal atmosphere of  the Valley of Rocks. Check your itinerary  and make sure you have  sufficient time to spend here. One night is barely sufficient,  two is really a minimum, but how ever long you stay  you will always receive our generous hospitality.

Accommodation

A first floor cosy double room that shares bathroom facilities with room 3. It is to the rear of the house with views over towards Station Hill and South Cleave.  

 

Room 2

 

 

A bright, spacious double/twin/family en-suite room also on the first floor to the front of the house. A twin aspect room with views to Hollerday Hill and Valley of Rocks. Equipped with a double bed and a single bed with space for an additional bed if required, sleeps 4. The roomy bathroom comprises shower, wash basin and W/C

Room 3

A spacious first floor double/twin/family room to the front of the house with large window overlooking Longmead. Fitted with a double bed and a single bed with spaces for an additional beds if required. Can sleep 5. Hot and cold wash basin is fitted and shares toilet and bathroom facilities with room 1

Room 4

A second floor cosy en-suite double room cleverly converted to give ample space in the bathroom area which comprises shower, wash basin and w/c. It is to the rear of the house with views over towards Station Hill and South Cleave.                                                                                                                  

Room 6

A bright, spacious double/twin/family en-suite room also on the second floor to the front of the house. A twin aspect room with views to Hollerday Hill and Valley of Rocks. Equipped with a double bed and a single bed with space for an additional bed if required, sleeps 4. The bathroom comprises shower, bath, wash basin and W/C

Our five rooms are complete with hospitality trays, heating and clock radio alarms. The en-suite rooms have additionally TVs.

Children are welcome of all ages, however they are expected to remain seated during meal times and must be supervised in the guest's lounge.

 

Child reductions, babies under 2 no charge but one off charge of £5 is made if a cot is required.

Spend another day or two here, if    you can, as there is so much to do and so much to see. Explore the Heddon Valley and find the old lime kiln at its mouth or take a romantic trip back to Lorna Doone times and visit Oare Church then seek out Robber’s Bridge. If not then come back and see us again to discover something new and enjoy the familiar as well

 

There are also the Pannier Markets of Barnstaple and Bideford, or the villages  in the heart of Exmoor that are a short drive from here which makes Lynton and Lynmouth such wonderful places to visit and a perfect centre from which to explore the whole of Exmoor and North Devon. The Denes makes for the perfect accommodation place from which to explore Exmoor and we can offer you bed & breakfast accommodation or half board for as long or short as your holiday requires.

 

Prices

Summer prices start from £21.50 for en-suite rooms, or  £18.50 for a standard room,  per person per night. Family Rooms range from £50 up to £65 per night. and we can accommodate up to 5 in one of our rooms. 

Low season discounts apply.

Lighter cooked breakfasts and non-cooked alternatives are available.
