SELF-CATERING COTTAGES - English Tourist Board  4-star accredited  (ETB ****).

The cottages interlink, we can accommodate almost any combination of guests, and yet offer complete privacy.

Stawley Wood Cottages offer comfortable accommodation in wonderful rural surroundings. Perfect for summer holidays and short breaks in idyllic Somerset.

The cottages are also a wonderful winter let opportunity.  Whether a single person or a group of up to 18 people, the cottages offer 15th century authenticity with 21st century comfort. Click on

In addition to the cottages, we also offer bed and breakfast. Perhaps try the B&B before booking your holiday cottage?

Three cottages have been sensitively converted from an old farm building offering 15th century authenticity with 21st century comfort.

This most peaceful setting is complemented by a multitude of interesting flora and fauna:

Stunning white doves, tame rare-breed miniature Kune-Kune pigs, guinea-fowl, duck, geese, moorhen, chickens, quail, pheasants, sparrow hawk, cattle, horses and sheep can be found in and around the place. You may even see a barn owl.

In fact, the RSPB has identified 8 species of endangered birds on the farm.

All in all, the farm is as 'away from it all' as possible: perfectly peaceful and entirely unique.

Information about the cottages

The cottages are unusual in that the bedrooms and bathrooms are downstairs and the daily living area is upstairs.

Downstairs opens into a large enclosed south-facing courtyard with barbeque equipment and outdoor furniture supplied - a real suntrap.

Upstairs opens onto a small lawn beyond which lies the car parking area and a Ramblers’ Association footpath.

The cottages can be joined together so can sleep four, six, eight, ten, twelve or eighteen people (including sofa beds). Midweek changeovers are welcomed.

The cottages are interlinked and soundproofed, fireproofed and have independently locked double doors.

Each cottage is very cosy, yet light and airy and full of charm. Each has double-glazing throughout and a traditional wood burner upstairs.

Upstairs, each cottage is open-plan with a wood-effect floor, attractive window shutters, high ceilings, with beautifully equipped kitchen and dining area.

Each kitchen has a fridge and electric cooker with fan assisted oven and separate grill. Shippon and Cider cottages have a dishwasher.

Each sitting room is well equipped with TV, video and music system. Each has a double sofa bed for extra guests.

The bedrooms are carpeted and electrically heated.

Every bath/shower room has under floor heating. Each cottage has a washing machine.

Just next door, the drying room is equipped with a freezer and tumble dryer for general use.

Towels and bed linen are provided. Mid week changeovers are welcomed.
