The Dunkery Beacon.

The Dunkery Beacon originally built as an Edwardian Hunting Lodge is situated near some of the prettiest Exmoor villages and towns including Porlock, Dunster and Selworthy. We are just a short drive from Exford, Winsford, Dulverton and Withypool with their traditional pubs. The Steam Valley Railway is 4 miles away at Minehead.

Our Exmoor Bed and Breakfast has truly stunning views that stretch from Robin How, Dunkery Beacon, the moors above Porlock and beyond. Nestling in south facing hills in the village of Wootton Courtenay.

Accommodation

All of the rooms take full advantage of the south facing panoramic views from where red deer can often be seen. Three of the deluxe suites have their own sitting room area offering additional space and comfort and our premier suite has incredible 180 degree views of  Exmoor.

Bedrooms

Eight en-suite bedrooms including one on the ground floor, are individually styled and decorated. They offer you the quality, comfort and facilities expected from a warm, family-run bed and breakfast home.

 

The rooms have large and comfortable beds, soft Egyptian cotton sheets, light and warm duvets, white fluffy towels, colour televisions, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers and clock radios.

 

 



Sitting Room

Beautiful sitting room with log burner. The warm greeting from the spaniels, cup of tea and homemade cake in our lovely sitting room all help to make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive.

Garden

Guests can sit in our lovely gardens and enjoy the wonderful views, all set within the peace and tranquillity of Exmoor.

Within a short drive there are many places to eat. Our website provides details of these together with activities and places to visit. We have also added a link to a diary of events to help you plan your stay.

We have bike-cleaning and storage facilities, stabling and a drying room available as well

Breakfast

Breakfasts at The Dunkery always includes local produce whenever possible.

A full English breakfast consists of:
Locally produced smoked bacon, sausage, black pudding, fried bread, grilled tomatoes, free range egg (cooked as requested) and field mushrooms.

Any combination of the above:-

Wholemeal and white toast with homemade marmalade, jam and honey. Miles special blend tea, Earl Grey, cafeteria of Miles coffee or hot chocolate.

Evening Meals

We can offer evening meal for groups of 6 or more using the finest locally sourced produce from Exmoor and the West Country either here at The Dunkery Beacon or at Ranscombe Restaurant in the village. All our dishes are  served in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

Locally there are a good and varied selection of traditional pubs and restaurants serving a wide choice of menus to suit all tastes. 

Tariffs

The prices are for bed and breakfast per person per night and are based on 2 people sharing and are inclusive of VAT.

Single supplement   £10.00 a night    

Check in from 2.00pm (earlier by arrangement on the day of your arrival with check out by 10.30 on the day of your departure

Regretfully all rooms will be charged in full if we do not receive five days notice of your cancellation of a reservation unless we are able to resell the accommodation on your behalf.

Payment by cash/cheque. Credit/debit card facilities are not available.
