Nanteos Mansion is an Eighteenth-century home of the wealthy and eccentric Powell dynasty, (off the B4340 Aberystwyth-Trawsgoed road) and is an absolute must to visit on your travels to, or around, the west coast of Mid Wales.
A rarely unspoilt example of a
Palladian country house, Nanteos is considered to be one of the finest examples
of its period.
It commands a glorious view over the tranquil, secluded valley of the river
Paith, only ten minutes from the centre of Aberystwyth (shops, restaurants,
cinemas, seafront, National Library of Wales, two-hourly trains to Birmingham &
London – 5 hrs).

The Rooms
With five comfortable, en-suite, double guest rooms. Each suite is completely different, with its own unique character. TV, radio alarm, hairdryer, tea & coffee-making facilities are provided (Boudoir is TV-free!). Showers are available in Boudoir and Ystwyth suites only.
The house is centrally heated and in Winter a log fire is laid in the Hall. Nanteos’ rather formal exterior belies the warm welcome, comfort and personalised service you’ll find within.
We are competitively priced from £40 per person per night, B&B (dinner in the Library from £7.95, by prior arrangement), Nanteos is a private Guest House (AA 3-stars) with a licensed bar.
Open all year round, children and pets are welcome (dog
supplement £10).
Weddings:- Nanteos Mansion is the ideal place to hold your wedding, reception or corporate function. Set in 30 acres of stunning scenery, this beautiful Georgian house and estate provide impressive surroundings for your perfect day.
Private parties and business meetings:- are catered for, with up to 200 delegates using seven function rooms, including the ornately gilded and mirrored Music Room, a national treasure.
Nanteos Mansion
The Grade One-listed house is being restored and renovated
by new owners, as some areas have fallen into disuse over the past fifty years,
and a permanent restaurant and extra bedroom suites are being created in the
Brewery Wing (opening 2008). So, please be patient if some facilities are
unavailable.

The house has several reputable ‘ghosts’, and legend has it that it is the last resting place of seven monks who brought the Holy Grail from Glastonbury – the Grail itself, otherwise known as the Nanteos Cup, is sadly no longer on the premises!
The house is not generally open to the public without an appointment or confirmed B&B booking, but you are welcome to walk and picnic in the grounds (please be aware, some areas are not accessible to wheelchair users. Children must be accompanied by an adult – dangerous structures. If in doubt, contact the Manager).
Nearby Amenities
Nearby amenities include nature walks starting in the Mansion’s thirty acres of wooded grounds; golf; riding; cycling and fishing, with access to the stunning Elan Valley, Devil’s Bridge gorge, historic Machynlleth and the UN heritage Cambrian coastline.
