Portland Guesthouse is beautifully appointed, tasteful and a spacious guesthouse making it ideal for a relaxing break. Near to the Forest of Dean, and the River Wye is less than a five minutes walk away. Ross on Wye (8 mins), Monmouth (5 mins) and Symonds Yat (8 mins). . Family celebrations and Group events a speciality.
We have off street parking and one parking space designated for the disabled.

Accommodation
Our adaptable sleeping accommodation consists of The pretty daffodil yellow Marstow Room (standard double), The elegant Magnolia Room (standard double) and The Doward Room (twin), all ensuite.
We also have 3 larger suites - a superior large suite with a large 4 poster bed, a 2 bed roomed family suite accommodating up to six people, and a ground floor suite catering for wheelchair users and people with accessibility problems which has been accessibility rated by Quality in Tourism
Monmouth Suite
For a luxurious and romantic break we offer The majestic
Monmouth
Suite on the first floor, reached by its own entrance hallway; and providing
that something special - a four-poster bed with antique furniture.
Also a chocolate brown leather Chesterfield sofa to relax and watch TV/DVD, or wallow in the Victorian bathroom with its own black chandelier.
Lloyd Suite
The luscious Lloyd Suite, for accessibility, is richly furnished and situated on the ground floor. Has a double bed and single bed, and easy chairs for relaxing or watching TV/DVD player, as well as a charming small conservatory overlooking the garden. The route to The Lloyd suite is all on one level with no steps or stairs to impede your entrance. The suite has a large bathroom with a wet area as well as large bath, and grab rails surrounding facilities.
Family Accommodation
The fabulous family accommodation on the second floor has lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Both bedrooms have their own TV and the main bedroom has a DVD player. The suite is served by its own shower room. There’s also a chess/draughts table and dolls house, with a variety of other board games and puzzles.
The privately situated Ross Suite:- has a king-sized bed in the master bedroom and single beds in the adjoining room
The Hunter Suite:-

The Hunter Suite overlooks the peaceful countryside, is only available at 3 months notice and is £155 per night.
All bedrooms have:- Electric kettle, a service tray offering bottled water, tea, coffee and chocolate and home made fancies. Standard ensuites are equipped with bath/shower gels and shampoos, shower caps. Bathrooms are provided with luxury bath salts and towelling slippers.

Meals
Our large, elegantly furnished dining room,
with its beautiful Victorian fireplace, is the perfect place to enjoy the
wonderful three course breakfasts. All are
home-cooked with
our Aga, including the home made marmalade, jams and bread, as
well as our very own muesli. We also cater for special diets and rotate menus to
add interest, the traditional British breakfast is always
available and cooked to order, but there are always three alternatives
available. All meals are always made up of local produce.
With prior arrangement we can provide Evening Meals for four or more guests. We
have a restaurant licence so you can enjoy wine with your meal.
Eating out:- There is a good variety of pubs and restaurants very close by for dining out, some are in walking distance and we always have a selection of menus from local restaurants for you to pursue before you set off for a pub lunch or evening meal.
With prior arrangement we can provide evening meals for four or more guests, and we have a restaurant
licence so you can enjoy wine with your meal. If you chose to have evening meals we send you sample
menus beforehand to inform on the type and range of meals offered in the evenings . There is however a good
variety of pubs and restaurants very close by for dining out, some even in walking distance and we always
have a selection of menus from local restaurants to peruse before you set off for a pub lunch or an evening meal
Lounge
We offer guests the use of the very comfortable and spacious lounge in which to relax, watch satellite television or maybe enjoy a game of chess, and it's especially cosy in the winter with a log fire.
Please
note: We regret we cannot accommodate pets, except a working dog in a
specific supportive role to its owner. Portland House is strictly non-smoking.
Garden:- Our partially walled garden, with its pretty terrace area, is also available for guests to enjoy. We have listed the plants that attract bees, birds and butterflies

Single Night stays:
*Please note the Ross Suite is not available for single night stays. We reserve the right to make a surcharge of between £5- £15 per person for single night stays for accommodation dependent on day of week and time of year.
All prices are per person per night including breakfast based on two people sharing (single occupancy rate £45 for Marstow Room)
Multiple Night stays:
In off peak times we may offer discounts for 3 or more night stays
Deposits:
All prior bookings have to be secured by a cheque deposit or debit card.
Payment:
Without prior booking full payment is required on arrival. Payment by debit card incurs no extra charge. Payment by credit card incurs a 2.5% surcharge
