De la Serène

 Near Najac, Aveyron, SW France.

Two gîtes -  Child-friendly gîtes with heated pool in a beautifully converted stone barn set in 8 acres of land near Najac, Aveyron, SW France.

Two gîtes, which each sleep 8 people, are set in 8 acres of land with trout stream in beautiful countryside between the gorges of the Aveyron and Viaur rivers.

The gîtes are 2 km from the bustling village of La Fouillade which has all the essential shops and services, and 8km from Najac, with its medieval castle, classed as "one of the most beautiful villages in France".

We grow our own organic vegetables and fruit which you can buy fresh every day, and herbs, to which you can help yourself free of charge.

The Gites - Sleeps 8

Each gîte has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The downstairs double bedroom and bathroom are wheelchair accessible.

The gîtes are tastefully furnished and well equipped.  The kitchen has a large fridge/freezer and a washing machine, and we can provide a TV with a selection of children's videos. For out of season rentals there are electric radiators in every room plus a log burning stove in the living room. We can provide a camp bed for an extra person free of charge.

Ground floor: - large open plan kitchen/living room with exposed beams, double bedroom, shower room.

First floor :-      master double bedroom, 2 twin bedrooms, bathroom.

Garden :-         private and enclosed with dining terrace complete with wooden furniture, hammocks, deckchairs, barbeque and pergola/sunshade.

Baby equipment:-  is available and includes high chair, travel cot and plastic utensils. A babysitting service is available in the evenings. We also have a paddling pool with sunshade and can provide a selection of good quality baby toys.

We also have a 40m² heated atelier which makes a great party venue - complete with sound system and disco lights (available free of charge to groups who book both gîtes)

A complimentary box of groceries:-  will welcome you on arrival, including home-grown organic vegetables, free-range eggs, a bottle of the local Gaillac wine, fresh bread, butter, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, etc.

Child-friendly...

The owners, who live on site, have 2 young children, so everything is designed with child-safety in mind. We also have lots of playthings that other children are welcome to use, including swings with slide, sand pit, and a variety of toys.

We are far from any busy roads and the 8 acres are well fenced so that children can enjoy their freedom in complete safety. Our trout stream, La Serène, accessible via a style, is a perfect spot for exploring and paddling as it is both shallow and shady. Try your hand at fishing or just sit and watch the dragonflies.

Activities for young children include:- collecting eggs from our chickens,  paddling in our shallow/shady stream, swimming/paddling in the Viaur river, visiting a local ostrich farm, canoeing on the Aveyron river, riding Shetland ponies at a local farm, exploring Najac's 12th century castle.

Some of our land has ponies grazing on it and in early summer we have hay fields full of wild flowers and butterflies.
