Stable Cottage with Secluded Garden - 2 double bedrooms, 1 single bedroom sleeps up to 5.

Domain des Bruyeres  offers 2 gites  each in its own secluded corner of the grounds, approximately 100 meters apart, with access to the 14 meter x 5 meter swimming pool which is situated between the 2 gites though closest to Le Petit Coin

L'écurie is a traditional estate coach house with private courtyard garden and use of the large shared swimming pool. It sleeps 3, possibly 4 and is situated in the grounds of Château des Bruyeres, a working farm and home to English owners.

The farm offers a lake and woodlands in gentle peaceful countryside. It is ideal for observing wildlife, angling, walking, cycling and relaxing.  

If you are fed up with the sound of traffic this is the place for you.

The cottage grounds are surrounded by pastures and fields where organic produce is grown. This includes sunflowers, lupins linseed, maize, and wheat. There are horses grazing in the meadows. Chickens, dogs, cats and owls are all part of everyday  life here.

Between April and mid June you will be serenaded by frogs and nightingales all night long. The lake has a rowing boat and anglers are welcome.

Situated in the department of Vienne on the edge of the Brenne Natural Park, the property is 1 hour to Poitiers and Futurscope, 1 hour to Limoges with its porcelain and 3 hours to Paris. Distance to the shops are 4 and 6 miles.

Kitchen

Equipped with gas cooker, fridge, microwave, washing machine, tumble drier, coffee machine and toaster.

Lounge/living room

Cosily furnished with patio doors to garden.

It also has a spacious walk- through gallery room that can offer extra sleeping arrangements if required.

Bedrooms

There are 2 double bedrooms (one is a walk through room) and 1 single bedroom.

All bedrooms are comfortably furnished and decorated to a good standard.

Bathroom

With bath /integral shower, washbasin and WC.

Bed linen is included and beds are made on arrival.

Please note that the cottage is a non smoking area.

During your stay the owners can generally offer you free range eggs, herbs, salads and vegetables.Thyme, rosemary and sage are also planted in the garden for your use.

The owners would like to point out that it is only suitable for children if properly supervised because of the farming activities of the property - they appreciate only too well the  instincts of children to explore and only have their safety in mind.

Around the Area

For basic shops Lignac and Thollet are only  a couple of miles down the road. Lignac has a very good bread shop for fresh early morning croissants and baguettes.

La Trimouille is 6 miles north and has a small supermarket, 2 butchers, 3 boulangeries, 2 chemists, 2 hairdressers, stationers and 2 doctors plus tennis courts and 2 restaurants.

Montmorillon is a delightful Roman town with a colourful Wednesday morning market.  Two large supermarkets one of which is open. You will also find crazy golf, tennis and an Equestrian centre here.

Le Blanc is another interesting town situated on a river where you can  hire boats and canoes, or simply just amble around the old town.  It has its market day on a Sunday morning.

Activities

Chauvigny is approximately 30 mins and is a delightful medieval town situated between us and Poitiers of Futuroscope fame, about 1 hours drive.  Chauvigny offers the Chateau des Aigles where you can enjoy a display of eagles, owls, falcons etc., from the medieval ruins high above the town situated on the Vienne river.

La Vallee des Singes is a unique sanctuary where you are allowed to feed the monkeys on their own islands at feeding time.  The monkeys climb on to you to take the food!!!

L'ille aux Serpants at LA Trimouille is for reptile lovers.

Futuroscope not to be missed. A great day out for the whole family for 32 euros per adult which includes the evening firework display and incredible laser show.

St. Savin offers an abbey famous for its frescoes.

Limoges 1 hour to the south.  Pottery, and more pottery after a drive through the foothills of the Massive Central
