The hamlet of Regat is 8 miles (11 kms) south of Mirepoix, is in the heart of the Cathare country. Carcassonne, which is served daily by Ryanair, is 40 minutes away whilst Toulouse airport is just over an hour away. By road we are 670 miles (1070 kms) from Calais.
The local people in this undiscovered part of France are extremely friendly and offer a warm welcome in their shops, street markets, restaurants and vineyards.
The house, part of an old farm complex, offers:-
3 double, ensuite bedrooms (the 3rd floor bedroom with 2 single beds, a sofa bed and cot, leads off one of the 2nd floor bedrooms).
Sitting/Dining room with open fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, individually controlled heaters in all rooms, TV (BBC channels available) and hifi..
The terrace and first floor balcony face south overlooking the garden and offer spectacular views across the river Touryre to the Pyrenees and there are sunloungers and a BBQ for your enjoyment. Supermarket shopping and fresh bread are 3 minutes away.
Places to visit
The ski resort of Les Monts d'Olmes in the Pyrenees is some 30 minutes by car and has 8 lifts and 20 pistes including 2 black.
The better known resort of Ax-les-Thermes also in the Pyrenees takes one hour.
The fortress of Montsegur, scene of the Cathares tragic stand against Simon de Montfort, is nearby.
Activities
Fishing, swimming and riding are all within easy range and there are golf courses at Carcassonne and Foix.
