The Loire Valley in the heart of France is a picturesque and beautiful place to relax and enjoy yourself.
La Guitoniere is a well restored and furnished traditional stone built farmhouse set in the Loire Valley between Angers and Tours and just a short drive from the Loire.
We are only 20 minute drive away from the lovely town of Saumur which has a magnificent Chateau, cobbled streets, delightful medieval buildings and stylish shops.
Doue la Fontaine a 10 minute drive away is a typical French market town with friendly tabacs good restaurants and many other amenities. Doue is also famous for its spectacular flower festival.
La Guitoniere has something to offer everyone from sitting relaxing whilst sampling the many local wines to playing badminton in the games barn or if you are feeling very energetic trying out the exercise equipment.
As well as a big play area for children there are bikes (helmets available) and a selection of toys and games.
Accommodation
Our Farmhouse (called La Guitoniere) sleeps 4 people in comfort.

La Guitoniere is set in its own grounds with a central courtyard surrounded by barns so is very private. It also has its own original troglodyte caves.
Bedrooms:- Double bedroom with king size bed and fitted wardrobes. Lovely marble fireplace and oak floor.
Twin bedroom with 2 single beds wardrobe chest of drawers and oak floor.
Bathroom:- with white suite and shower attachment over bath.
Separate WC .
The sitting room:- has an attractive oak beamed ceiling and large tuffeau fireplace. It is both spacious well decorated and nicely furnished with large comfy settees, coffee table video CD with selection of videos and discs.
Kitchen / dining room:- well equipped with cooker, fridge, coffee maker, kettle, iron, plus extras like picnic basket, flasks and cocktail shaker
Laundry room:- with sink and washing machine.

Around the area
The Loire Valley is one of the most magnificent places to rest relax and explore. A short drive will take you to one of the many Chateaux that are part of the Loire. There are lovely Chateaux at Saumur Angers Montreuil-Bellay Brissac and Montgeoffroy to name just a few.
Loire Valley has much to offer everyone it is ideal for walking enthusiasts as there are miles of riverbanks many forests and hillsides laced with vines. It is also a cyclists paradise with 375 miles of riverbank to pedal!
Due to the climate the Loire valley is well known for its fine produce which include a variety of fruit vegetables and grapes so essential for winemaking.
Loire cruises are a lovely way to see and enjoy France at a leisurely pace. If you feel more energetic, France also has some excellent golf courses fairly close by.
There are museums, markets, chateaux, cathedrals, and much more to entertain you...
Saumur is known for its Chateau and well restored buildings such as the Hotel de Ville ( Town Hall ) in which the façade holds an original ‘ Pierre de la Bastille - a stone taken from the Parisian prison which when stormed in 1789 started the French Revolution.
There are also many chic shops that sell stylish clothes and accessories as well as those that have a huge selection of wines and cheeses.
Saumur is quite simply horse crazy and is home to the Ecole Nationale d’
Equitation and the Cadre Noir, an exclusive team of riders whose horsemanship is
renowned. Their displays are a spectacular combination of rider and horse
achieving near perfection.

In central Saumur the Place de Bilange is a good place to have coffee in one of the many cafes before going on to shop and see the sights.

Angers is considered to be a true Loire city and gateway to the Loire Valley and is the historic capital of Anjou. The huge Chateau constructed as a military fortification is where one of the finest tapestries ever woven, the Apocalypse Tapestry, is housed. Angers is a nice place to walk around and has many attractions there is interesting architecture museums gardens and plenty of places to eat and drink. Just outside Angers is the Cointreau factory and museum.
Market Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Tariff's
July and August £350 per week.
June and September £290 per week.
All other months £200 per week.
Central heating for off peak periods January to May and October to December, 45 Euros per week, payable locally.
Linen hire is 8 euros per week per bed
