Four Holiday homes to rent in sunny Normandy, in a small village called St. Malo de la Lande, which is around 5 minutes from the nearest beach by car.
St. Malo de la Lande is a small village and is around 5 minutes from the nearest beach by car. There are Nice fruit and veg markets in the village 2 to 3 times per week. Pharmacy, Doctors, Churches, Mont St. Michel (70 Kms). D-Day beaches at 40 Kms. There is a coastal town called Agon-Coutainville and just off this lovely little town, there are some beautiful little islands called Chaussey Islands. You also have Jersey just opposite.
There are two farms opposite us and they welcome visitors. You can take the children to see the daily parade of the cows leaving their field just opposite the cottages. They walk just in front of the cottages and into the farm to be milked. You can even take the children to watch the milking. They have chickens, rabbits, ducks etc. The children love this. They sometimes have fresh eggs for sale and other farm produce.
The Cottages
Pear Tree Cottage - Sleeps
2 to 7 persons
Pear Tree is a beautiful traditionally built stone cottage. It has a red tiled roof and little blue shutters on all the windows.
Accommodation comprises of:- Shower room, kitchen, living room with open fireplace downstairs. Upstairs there are two bedrooms. One double bed and one with two single beds and a drawer bed under one of the single beds. There is also a stair gate for the children. The kitchen has all modern appliances, including a washing machine. Electrical central heating. There is a stone terrace running the full length of the house with a typically French metal table and chairs (seats 4) on the terrace and in the garden there is a round table and chairs which seats another 4 people. BBQ area. Nice big garden with parking area.
Corner Cottage - Sleeps 2 to 7 persons
Corner
Cottage is exactly the same as Pear Tree and is in fact a
continuation of the same building. Same beautiful stone built cottage, very old.
It has a red tiled roof and little blue shutters on all the windows.
Accommodation comprises of:- Kitchen with all modern appliances, including a washing machine. Living room (smaller than Pear Tree) with open fireplace. We then have the shower room with toilet and wash hand basin. Next there is what we call the library. A lovely cosy little room with a bookcase in the old fireplace, two seater sofa and a winged armchair. You can sit down, read and relax in this room. From this room you have a little ladder which takes you up on to a mezzanine, and it has an open loft area with a barrier. We could put a mattress in here to accommodate another 2 adults or children. It would have to be at the parents discretion whether or not the children are allowed to enter the mezzanine area. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. Nice big garden and the cottages are next door to Magarite and La Grange, so the children have a beautiful large, safe play area. There is French and English TV channels. BBQ area and parking.
La Grange - Sleeps 2 to 7 persons
La Grange
is an old converted barn. It is a mix of old and new. Very bright,
large patio door windows onto a terrace with 2 loungers and table and chairs.
Accommodation comprises of:- A fireplace in the living room/dining room. Modern kitchen with all modern appliances including dishwasher and washing machine. Gas central heating. Upstairs there are two bedrooms. One with a double bed 160 x 200 cms and the other with bunk beds 90 x 190 and a drawer bed. Both rooms have fitted wardrobes. The bathroom is very spacious, actually there is no bath, it has a lovely large corner shower, two wash hand basins and fitted wardrobes the full length of the bathroom/Shower room. There is access to the kitchen from the road, as there is a little parking area just in front of the kitchen door. There is a BBQ area (which is shared by Margarite) and a large beautiful garden. There is also an area for the children to play safely, slides, swings, wooden cabin, plastic pool etc.
Margarite Sleeps 2 to 7 persons
Margarite
is just next door to La Grange. This property has the same nice big patio doors
onto a terrace with garden furniture and two loungers. On the side windows there
are little pale blue shutters.
Accommodation comprises of:- Living room/Dining Room/Kitchen - all open plan. Modern kitchen, but no dishwasher. Upstairs you have the shower room again with two bedrooms. One with a double bed 140 x 190cms and a single bed 90 x 190 in the same room. The other has bunk beds 90 x 190 cms. The washing machine is in the shower room. Gas central heating. The parking is in the courtyard at the end of the garden. The same BBQ area is shared by La Grange. Nice big safe garden and play area for the children. There is also a plastic pool for the children or guests.
Information
You can rent bicycles at the local garage for a reasonable price. We will organize boat trips to the local islands called 'Chaussey' (weather permitting), the prices for this will be on a brochure in your cottage. We will also do a Friday night BBQ with one bottle of red or white wine included in the price.
There is a little 'épicerie' (Grocery Shop) in the nearest village, which is just about 1 km away and it is open every day from 8 am until 9 pm, EXCEPT Wednesday - Open only in the morning until 1pm.There are some lovely restaurants nearby; there will be brochures in your cottages explaining where they are situated.
Around Normandy
Agon-Coutainville is a seaside town and is a very popular holiday resort with French Families. There are lots of attractions, such as an 18 hole Golf Club just beside the beach (and a few other 18 hole Golf Courses not far from Coutainville), restaurants, Tennis Clubs, Equestrian Centre, omnisports, 2 cinemas, Boule, Petanque, Golf, Sailing Club, Casino, FIshing, Lake, Pedalos etc. There is also a club which runs during the whole summer for the children called 'Club Mickey'.
