The accommodation within these Barns is rated as 4* by the British Tourist Board.

Lower Damgate Farm is an ideal location from which to explore the beauty of the Peak National Park. We are situated between the magnificent rivers of Dovedale and the Manifold Valley. The farm borders National Trust land and you can walk directly to Dovedale via Hall Dale. The Farmhouse was built in 1580 and the unique set of stone built barns that compliments it all come under the Grade II listing. The farm has 20macres that you are welcome to use. There are pet sheep, ducks and chickens. During lambing time the children often help feed the lambs and collecting eggs is a must for everyone.
Accommodation
Three of these barns have been beautifully converted into holiday accommodation of the highest standard. Each barn has a mixture of flagstone floors and rugs and many pieces of antique furniture, including a genuine antique pine handmade kitchen. You will also find a cast iron log burning stove, high quality beds and a wealth of beams, trusses and woodwork in addition to many lovely pictures spread around each room. All of these features combine to give each barn great character and warmth.
One advantage of this accommodation overall is the ability to sleep a large number of people, with the combination of accommodations the total party numbers can range from 7 to 15/16 up to a maximum of 24/25. Additionally, Rubens Roost has a great living and dining area which works well if it is used in combination with one of the other Barns.
Ruben's Roost - Sleeps 7/8 people + cot

Reuben's Roost stands near the entrance to the farm and an ancient 200 year old sycamore tree. It has views overlooking the beautiful open countryside providing a good view of the dry stone walls which snake up the hills which form such a powerful image common across Derbyshire's countryside. There are also views to the only neighbour, a farm about 200 yards away. It has three bedrooms, a galleried sitting room, large bathroom and shower room; comfortably accommodating 7/8 people and a cot.
The Entrance Hall:- with antique coat rack with door on right leads you to the living and dining room.
The Bathroom:- is situated mid way along the hall, is large and very warm having both a bath and a separate shower. The shower, a Mira, is fed off the main system and provides a generous flow of water! It also features a very unusual mirror, which has to be seen to be believed! The door to the bathroom has a stained glass feature and is particularly attractive.
The Kitchen:- is hand-made by a local craftsman in re-claimed pine. There is a microwave, cooker, toaster, kettle and fridge (all in matching dark green) and a Bosch dishwasher. On the wall is a particularly attractive and large antique pine cupboard, and an under lit antique plate rack.
Living and Dining Room:- This stunning room measures approx 22' x 20'. Initially, the most striking feature is the large oak ceiling truss (the room is open to the eaves) and the additional sitting area up in the gallery. Downstairs in the main sitting area, is a large 3 piece suite (one of the chairs being a recliner). This is arranged around an old pine coffee table, a cast iron stove and an antique cabinet housing the TV and video. With beautiful pictures, a genuine old pine pew, a huge pitch pine table which seats eight with room to spare, and a particularly well worn butchers block, it really is a beautiful room. The floor has well worn old flagstones and a large rug in the living area. There is another door to the kitchen.
The Gallery:- There are two soft chairs, a coffee table and reading lamp. There is also a feature window with four separate arches opposite the gallery, which looks into one of the bedrooms.
Bedroom 1:- Located at the other end of the hall on the ground floor this bedroom consists of a very thick carved old pine double bed and a single bed. There is a wash-hand basin and vanity unit in the corner of the room, a wardrobe area and antique chest of drawers and mirror. The stairs go half way up and then split to the left and the right.
Bedroom 2:- situated upstairs on the left is a large double bedroom, partially in the roof space (with lot's of pretty angles). It is beautifully decorated and furnished and with it's own two-seater sofa. There is a chest of drawers and a wardrobe under the eaves and a bedside cabinet each side of the bed. The floor has a rug and polished floorboards. The large window looks across to our only neighbour, a farm about 200 yards away.
Bedroom 3:- situated opposite bedroom 2, is very unusual, with a roof truss in the middle of the room. This effectively splits the room into two and on the far side is the feature window which, as we have already mentioned, can be seen from the living room downstairs. Through this window, you can look down into the living area and across, through another truss and over into the gallery. This room can accommodate two or three single beds (depending upon your requirements) and is always popular with children, who all seem to love it for its unusual attributes.
Bremen's Barn - Sleeps up to 9

This is perhaps most unusual in the fact that it is largely upside-down! The living area, kitchen and dining areas are upstairs, along with bedroom 4. The remaining three bedrooms and two bathrooms are on the ground floor comfortably accommodating up to 9 people.
The Hallway:- The front door opens into a flag stoned hall with an antique and tiled pine washstand and an old pine box seat. To your left is the shower room.
Shower Room:- The door to the shower room is made from stripped pine and has a lovely stained glass panel inset. The shower, a Mira, is fed off the main system and provides a generous flow of water! It also features a very unusual mirror, which has to be seen to be believed! To your right is bedroom 1.
Bedroom 1:- A large double bedroom with a good quality double bed with curtained canopy, antique pine drawers, bedside cabinets and a mirror which has been converted from an old sash window.
Bedrooms 2 and 3:- Further down the hall are bedrooms 2 and 3. Bedroom 2 has bunk beds and walls with some of the stonework exposed. Bedroom 3 is a large room with three single beds. It also houses a lovely antique pine wardrobe, old chest of pine drawers and beside cabinets.
Bedroom 4:- On the left is a very pretty double bedroom with a beautiful truss just in front of the back wall and a Velux Window. There is also thick set pine and tiled mirror, antique chest of old pine drawers and a soft chair. The floor has a rug and polished floorboards.
Bathroom:- Past the stairs and down the hall is the bathroom, which is beautifully decorated with some pictures from the Pears Soap archives! It's very warm and has a beamed ceiling. It's perfect for a quiet and relaxing soak in the bath!
Staircase & Landing:- The staircase leading from the entrance hall, doubles back on itself and at the top is a landing with an unusual antique cabinet from Japan. On your right at the top of the stairs, set in the middle of a large roof truss is a large old pine door. When you open this, you walk into a spacious and open area, split by two trusses, which again, can be walked through. They provide the three divisions for the kitchen, living room and dining room.
The Kitchen:- Handmade by a local craftsman in re-claimed pine. There is a cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge (all in matching dark green), and a Bosch dishwasher. On the wall, is a large antique pine cupboard.
The Dining Room:-. Has two antique tables, each with four chairs, which can be arranged to suit your requirements, or left separately for that perfect adults/children split that may be welcomed after a long day!
The Sitting Room:- Is placed in-between both of the old trusses and is most unusual. It has a lovely old pine carved church pew, a small and surprisingly comfortable fireside chair, two sofas and another soft chair. There are also a couple of old Elm stools. In addition to the central heating a Morso cast iron stove has been fitted. It's a great area to sit and relax, or alternatively you may chose to stand with your head out of one of the Velux Windows, admire the view and enjoy the beautiful fresh air!
Hope's Hideaway - Sleeps 8 + cot

The Bathroom:- Is warm with quality sanitary ware and a beamed ceiling. Straight ahead of you is the shower room.
The Kitchen:- Is handmade by a local craftsman in re-claimed pine. Directly over the sink, is a lit alcove which is formed from part of the roof from the adjacent barn. There is a cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge (all in matching dark green) in addition to a Bosch dishwasher.
The Dining Area:- This has a huge old pitch pine table, which seats 8 people with room to spare. There is a large gable end window in the kitchen/dining room area which looks over the farmhouse and gardens.

Bedroom 3:- is a large double bedroom with a good quality double bed. It is a particularly pretty room, with two of the walls having the original stonework exposed. In the wall behind the bed is a stone alcove. The room also has antique pine drawers, bedside cabinets and an old pine wardrobe.
The stairs, which double back on themselves lead off to a large landing with a door on the left and the right. At the back of the landing is the largest old pine chest you may ever have seen, complete with the original ironmongery. The door on the right, leads into bedroom 4.
Bedroom 4:- Is a double bedroom. It has huge oak perlins in the roof and a Velux window overlooking beautiful countryside. The floor has exposed and polished floorboards and a rug. The double bed is of good quality and has a simple, but attractive canopy.
The door on the left at the top of the stairs is set in the centre of a huge roof truss. When you open this, you walk into a spacious and open area, split by two trusses, which again, can be walked through. They provide the divisions for the kitchen, living room and dining room.
