Three Self-catering Holiday Cottages on the Banks of the Louth Navigational Canal.

Canal Farm self-catering holiday cottages offer a peaceful haven for a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The cottages have a view of open countryside to the Lincolnshire Wolds and the majestic spire of St James Church in Louth, just a few miles away. Louth is a beautiful unspoilt Georgian town with a bustling market. Louth still has many small traditional food shops selling local Lincolnshire produce, including cheeses, breads, pork and fish from Grimsby in North Lincolnshire. The local facilities are excellent, with 2 pubs, the Millhouse Restaurant, farm shops and a village store all within 3 miles of Canal Farm in lovely rural Lincolnshire villages.

The fishing lake which is a stones throw from the cottages is available for the use of residents free of charge. The Canal Farm fishing lake

The on site fishing lake is an exclusive facility available free of charge to our guests only, and is positioned just 400 metres from the holiday cottages along a dedicated footpath.

The fish species include common, mirror and crutian carp, bream, roach, rudd, barbel and tench, with the lake now becoming well established, with good sized fish being caught.

There is a small lakeside fishing lodge available for storage of fishing equipment which also can be used for the fisherman´s partner or family to sit and relax and watch the fishing in progress, a picnic table and chairs are provided.

Canal Farm has it’s very own fishing lake, stocked with a variety of coarse fish and within walking distance of the cottages. This facility is available free to our paying guests. The lake is situated in a landscaped area of the farm with many young trees and wild flowers having been planted to attract wildlife.

There is an onsite visitors centre with laundry facilities, books, videos, games and an extra toilet. Also information on tourism attractions in Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, East midlands and Yorkshire. Children are very welcome at Canal Farm – cot and highchair are available on request.

Children can play safely on the grassy play area, and garden games are provided. The on site fishing facilities are what every keen fisherman could wish for, and this is free in both the Canal and the lake.

Louth Navigational Canal
The farm is on the banks of the Louth Navigational Canal, this is now disused but the 12 miles of towpath is a public footpath, offering opportunities for walking. Canal is conveniently situated halfway along the waterway, so you have the option of a 6 mile walk to Louth, or 8 miles to Tetney and out to sea. There is a well placed pub at each end of the canal, the Woolpack at the Riverhead in Louth, and the Crown and Anchor at Tetney Lock, both serve food.

Nature Lovers Paradise
If your passion is bird-watching then Canal Farm is the perfect holiday destination for you. Birdlife is abundant around the farm and along the Louth Navigation Canal, and you may catch a glimpse of our resident Barn Owl. Walkers and bird-watches will love the nearby coastal nature reserve at Saltfleet-Theddlethorpe. The spectacular sight of seal pups on the sands at Donna Nook during November and December and the beautiful Marsh Orchids in May/June at Rimac, are two of Lincolnshire’s best kept secrets.

Internet Connection:-  Canal Farm has now entered the 21st century and can offer guests access to the Internet. We can offer you the use of a dongle! This little device can be plugged into your USB point, to provide internet access in this most remote part of Lincolnshire.

Cycling at Canal Farm:-  The flat marshland and the gently undulating Lincolnshire Wolds provide a wonderful opportunity for exploring the countryside by bike. Canal Farm is on a Lincolnshire cycle route and only a mile away from the proposed national cycle route 12. Bikes can be hired from Canal Farm, and we can provide a lock-up shed for secure storage of your own.
