Around the area
Being close to the Norfolk and Suffolk border, we are ideally situated for
exploring much of East Anglia, but the immediate area offers many delights
within a 10 minute drive.
For nature lovers, there is Knettishall Heath Country Park where no fewer than
three long distance footpaths can be joined and Thetford Forest with miles of
off road walking and cycling. Both have a rich assortment of wildlife including
several species of wild deer, and Britain's largest spider - the Raft Spider,
can be seen at nearby Redgrave Fen.
Also close at hand are Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens, Banham Zoo and Snetterton Racing Circuit. The local towns of Diss and Bury St.Edmunds are well worth a visit for curiosities such as Gaze's Auction Sale and England's smallest pub.
Further afield you can visit historic Norwich and its cathedral, the
old port of King's Lynn, Cambridge and its fascinating college buildings and
punting on the River Cam are all within an hour. So too is the Norfolk and
Suffolk Coast with the traditional seaside attractions at Great Yarmouth and
Lowestoft, or the more sedate atmosphere of Southwold and Walberswick.
The Norfolk Broads are easily accessible and you can hire boats by the hour, do
a little fishing or watch the power boat races on Oulton Broad
The whole region is typified by quiet meandering lanes, unspoilt countryside,
chocolate box cottages and sleepy, picturesque villages.
