Whitecroft Cottage is a family sized country holiday cottage, which can sleep six.  Situated in the picturesque village of Horncliffe on the Scottish Borders near Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland.

Whitecroft is ideal for a family holiday touring the countryside and coastline of North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders or as a base for a fishing holiday on the River Tweed.

The cottage also has a south facing private secluded garden with two patios, garden furniture, flower beds and a lawn. Ample parking is available at the entrance of the cottage.

Just at the end of the lane (50metres) is a spectacular view of the river Tweed. Find out more about availability of fishing days and prices by visiting the Tweedhill Fishery  (Prices range from £30 to £110, taking 4 Rods with 1 Gillie and 1 hut, average catch taken over five years 98 Salmon and 12 Sea Trout).

The Ground Floor

The cottage maintains the original leaded windows and is beamed throughout. The atmosphere is calm and inviting. The modern additions of oil central heating provide warmth and comfort throughout the whole cottage.

Sitting Room

The sitting room is large and contains a dining area, a wood burning stove, lovely comfy settees, television and video, books of local interest and original art work. This is a very friendly and spacious room.

For your convenience the ground floor also has:

A large boot/utility room which contains extra kitchen units, sink, washing machine, tumble dryer, hanging space and a separate door to the garden.

A bathroom with WC and bath.

An open plan kitchen overlooking the garden fully equipped with fridge, cooker, microwave and ample cooking equipment and storage space.

A shed for storage of bicycles etc. (if you need any additional space!)

Upstairs

 A second bathroom with extra large shower, wash hand basin and WC

Bedroom 1 has twin beds, ample storage and tea and coffee making facilities.   

Bedroom 2 has adult sized bunk beds and two friendly bears to welcome children (or adults)

Bedroom 3 has a luxurious king sized bed, open fire place and wash hand basin and a settee. This is an exceptionally spacious room and also has tea and coffee making facilities.

All rooms overlook the garden and have been furnished to a high standard combining practical and antique furnishings. Oil central heating ensures a snuggly stay whatever the season.

A small hamper of local produce and home made goodies welcome you to the cottage

Fresh flowers and a bowl of seasonal fruit

Beds are freshly made for your arrival and all towels are supplied

Coal and logs are provided should you wish to use the open fire or stove

A cot, high chair, baby pen and baby bath are available

Tea Towels, dish cloths, toilet rolls and all cleaning agents are provided

The whole house is centrally heated at no extra cost

There is no charge for electricity

We also provide a meal service delivering meals cooked from the best quality local produce and delivered to your door at Whitecroft for those of you who do not feel like cooking during your stay. A seasonal menu is available on your arrival.

Northumbria

Northumbria has miles of sandy beaches and a coastline dotted with castles and small fishing villages, including Craster famous for its kippers. The Scottish coastline is more rugged with small secluded beaches; Coldingham is just perfect for children and the nearby cliff walk is ideal for birdwatchers and lovers of wild flowers. There are many stately homes near to the cottage to visit.

Lindisfarne

(The Holy Island) and the magnificent Heritage Coastline are a short drive away with miles and miles of unspoilt beaches to choose from.

You will find activities and places to visit to suit all tastes during your stay in Whitecroft Cottage which is perfectly situated for all of the area's major tourist attractions and the local village amenities.

The village has no through traffic, which adds to the tranquil atmosphere. A leisurely stroll from the cottage will take you to our local pub, The Fishers Arms. Recently refurbished and providing a congenial atmosphere, cask ales, bar meals and the warmest welcome from the proprietors Andrew and Jane. On Tuesday mornings a travelling shop comes to the village selling fruit and vegetables, farm eggs and the freshest fish from the quay at Eyemouth.

Activities

Walks, golf courses, pony trekking, working farms etc. The list is endless! The town of Berwick upon Tweed with the only intact Elizabethan walls in Europe is only four miles away and has a leisure centre, theatre and all the usual amenities as well as markets on Wednesday and Saturday and a 'Farmers Market' on the last Sunday of each month.

The main line railway station allows visits to Edinburgh and Newcastle with a journey time of less than one hour
