Cumbria. Applethwaite near Keswick. Self Catering at Orchard House. With only a few dozen houses, Applethwaite is only a mile and a half from Keswick and is the most sought-after village, around Keswick.  The village is in  a sleepy little hamlet, more reminiscent of Madeira than England, with hens, ducks, goats and sheep wandering over the lane. We have three houses here, one sleeping twelve, the other two sleeping eight. All properties have wonderful views and are comfortably furnished with a coal fire, colour television and video. Abundance of places to visit and variety of activities in the area.

Biggins, Kirkby Lonsdale.  Nutshell Barn is a Grade 2 listed barn converted to a very high standard in late 2001, situated in an excellent location close to the lake district and is available all year round. Close to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Kirkby Lonsdale is 6 miles from Junction 36 of the M6 motorway. The accommodation comprises two bedrooms (one double, one twin), dining kitchen and lounge. The outlook is over open countryside to Barbon Fell. There is parking for two cars and the use of a garage for storage.
