Self catering at Orchard House, Applethwaite.

Applethwaite is a sleepy little hamlet only one mile from Keswick. We have three houses here, one sleeping twelve, the other two sleeping eight.

With only a few dozen houses, Applethwaite is only a mile and a half from Keswick and is the most sought-after village, around Keswick.  The village is in  a sleepy little hamlet, more reminiscent of Madeira than England, with hens, ducks, goats and sheep wandering over the lane. And the lane isn't going anywhere else; the main road by-passed Applethwaite long before bypasses were thought of. So children and pets are pretty free to wander.  Beside the lane you will see gardens with blooming azaleas, rhododendron, every king of shrub hugging the hillside. Streams cascade down Skiddaw on their way to the River Derwent, and tumble merrily beside the road and farmsteads.

The barn was specially converted in 1990 for holiday use, and can sleep up to ten adults plus two children. Great for family get-together or for parties of walkers and friends!
