Manesty Holiday Cottages - five fully-equipped self-catering units created out of a traditional Lakeland farm in the heart of Borrowdale.

The fine old farmhouse is beautifully situated, and incorporates what are now three of the cottages: Manesty Band, Manesty and Manesty Dairy. It is flanked by two converted barns, Cocklety How and High Seat. Each cottage is self-contained with its own entrance, grounds and car parking space's), and is fully equipped as a comfortable, convenient home for a Lakeland holiday.

Manesty Band - Suitable for up to 7 people.

A barn incorporated into the farmhouse in the 19th Century.

The first floor has:-  four bedrooms: two doubles, one single, and one with double and single, bathroom/WC and separate shower/WC.

The ground floor comprises:- two large rooms: a kitchen with dining table, and sitting room complete with piano. There are uninterrupted views across the valley from all rooms and gravelled parking flanks the large sloping lawn

Cocklety How Stable Loft is part of Cocklety How, the converted 17th century barn, which comprises 2 first floor self-contained apartments over storage space. An interconnecting door allows them to be occupied together. The smaller apartment is referred to separately as Cocklety How Studio Apartment,

There are two double bedrooms, one with a 4ft bed suitable for two children, kitchen with dining area, sitting room, and bathroom/WC. The kitchen and sitting room look over Borrowdale. The back door opens onto a paved patio, the front onto gravelled parking space and lawn.

The heart of the original farmhouse.

Manesty, which enjoys views over the courtyard to the North-East, and out over Borrowdale to the South-East. Manesty Dairy is also seen, nearest the viewpoint.

Upstairs:- There are three bedrooms two doubles, and one with double and single, and a bathroom/WC.

Downstairs:- the large entrance hall, once the scullery and still with original stone slab and bulls-eye window, leads into the old farmhouse kitchen with traditional pine dining table. Opening off the kitchen is a laundry room which leads to a shower room/WC. There are uninterrupted views across the valley from the lounge and one bedroom; the remaining rooms look towards the peaks of Skiddaw. The old garden gateway leads to a small lawn.

The compact Edwardian extension to the farmhouse.

Ground floor:- There is one double bedroom together with an enclosed veranda, and bathroom/WC.

Upstairs:-  The kitchen and lounge/dining room are upstairs. The lounge looks over High Seat towards the fells at the head of Borrowdale.

High Seat - Suitable for up to 5 people.

The southern farm building converted into a bungalow.High Seat. Sleeps up to5

There are two bedrooms: one double and one with double and single, bathroom and separate WC. The kitchen/diner and large lounge enjoy beautiful views southwards towards the head of Borrowdale. The porch and sunroom add an extra dimension and open on to gravel parking and the lawn below.

Information

The cottages are well heated with off peak electric storage heaters in combination with either radiant wall heaters, convector heaters or fan heaters.

Our private supply of clear soft spring water is sterilised by chemical free ultra violet radiation.

Each cottage has its own large, electrically heated hot water cylinder.

There are normal home fittings including a fridge freezer in each cottage; in addition there are dishwashers in Manesty Band and Manesty

Beds have sprung mattresses, two pillows per person, 13.5 tog hollow fibre duvets, blankets provided as additional or alternative bedding. Towels are available at a small charge; bed linen is included in rates.

There is a site laundry with a washing machine and a tumble dryer which are available at a small charge. Manesty Band and Manesty have tumble dryers.

Electricity Except in Cocklety How where it is free, electricity is supplied by separate day rate and off-peak credit meters. Both are charged at the electricity board rates except in winter when off-peak electricity is free.

Telephone In the laundry there is a coin operated pay phone for outgoing calls only.

Child Facilities High chairs, cots and cot mattresses are provided but not cot bedding. Baby sitting by arrangement.

Garden Accessories Garden furniture is provided for each cottage, and a charcoal barbecue is available. There is undercover storage for bicycles.

Shopping There is a general store two miles away at Rosthwaite and a shopping centre in Keswick.

Cleaning We provide cleaning consumables, oven cloth, floor cloth/mop, duster and a toilet roll. Please bring kitchen hand towel, dishcloth, tea towel, kitchen roll, toilet rolls.

Please Note:- In the interests of others we ask our guests not to smoke in the cottages, and not to bring dogs or other pets into the cottage or grounds.
