This charming Victorian Cottage and Coach House-Annexe in Royal Tunbridge Wells, is situated in the peaceful backwater of the Pantiles area, but only minutes from the town.

Ford Cottage was built around 1856 on land owned by the Marquis of Abbervagenny. The Marquis was a large landowner and his estates stretched into Kent and Sussex - almost as far as Brighton. The Cottage was built to serve the big house next door, to provide a home for the coachmen and gardeners and was a "tied" cottage for many years.

At one time the cottage and grounds was established as a small market garden with a large orchard to the rear. Many greenhouses were used and one is still in use that was manufactured in 1937 by a local company.

Over the past years, there have been many additions and changes to the cottage and garden, but we have always tried to sensitively retain its essential  Victorian character where you will enjoy high standards of accommodation coupled with traditional hospitality.

Both suites at Ford Cottage are fully equipped with kitchens, and each are completely self contained with their own front doors.

The Stable Block - Sleeps 4

Entirely on the ground floor of Ford Cottage, the Stable Block can accommodate one or two adults, or can be adapted for a family of up to four.

Accommodation

The main bedroom, has two single beds (90cm x 190cm) and en suite shower-room facilities. The adjacent bed-sitting room, which can also be fitted with two full size single beds, has a television and sitting area. This self-catering suite has its own fully equipped kitchen. A washing machine and dryer are also available for use.

The Hayloft - Sleeps 2 Adults

The Hayloft is a detached, self-contained upstairs studio flat which can accommodate two adults. Its features include a fully equipped kitchen, a TV/sitting area, downstairs toilet and shower room, washer/dryer and payphone, as well as two single beds. If required an additional guest bed or travel cot can be provided.

Ford Cottage is an excellent base for your visit to Tunbridge Wells. We are three minutes walk from the famous Pantiles and local Tourist Information Centre. The local Post Office and supermarket are also just a few minutes walk away, and we have over twenty restaurants within easy walking distance (five to ten minutes).

Royal Tunbridge Wells is an elegant Georgian spa-town set in the heart of the beautiful Kent countryside in the south eastern corner of England. Founded in 1606 with the discovery of the Chalybeate Spring, the town became a fashionable and popular resort for the well to do throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. There are many NT properties nearby, also near to many castles and gardens.
