The Farm Cottages were redundant
stone barns which have now been converted into charming comfortable holiday
homes
Oldaport is a small grass farm of seventy
acres, being the home of the Courtney Flock of
Pedigree Lleyn sheep and the Oldaport Miniature Shetland Pony Stud. It lies in
a delightful secluded valley beside the beautiful Erme estuary, its abundance
of bird life-a real haven for the ornithologist and nature lover.
Accommodation
All cottages are furnsihed to a high standard of the English Tourism
Council. The fitted kitchens are fully equipped with cooker, microwave,
refrigerator, toaster, kettle and a comprehensive range of crockery, cutlery
and cooking equipment. There is heating in all rooms. Shaver points, and
colour television. Non-allergic duvet and pillows. Full bed linen will be
provided. Adjacent is a laundry room with automatic washing machine, tumble
dryer and ironing facilities. There is also a pay telephone.

This detached, single storey cottage has a large living room with galley
kitchen, bathroom with shower over bath/wc, double bedroom with door to its
own small patio area.

The cottage has a double bedroom and bathroom with shower over bath/wc on the
ground floor. The kitchen and lounge are upstairs, giving views over the
surrounding countryside. There is a futon bed settee in the lounge for two if
required.
Well Park Cottage ETC 4 Star - Sleeps 6
A spacious cottage for six people. One double bed, one twin and a bunk bedroom
with full size beds, together with bathroom with shower over bath/wc on the
first floor. On the ground floor are hall, large lounge and kitchen/diner.

Oldaport Stud of Miniature Shetland
Ponies
A small stud of quality minature ponies, all well handled and with good
temperaments. Our ponies are of various colours black, chestnut, roan, bay,
piebald and skewbald.
History of Oldaport
Oldaport is steeped in history. The farmhouse is
believed to be of early 17th century origin and represents a good example of a
cross-passage farmhouse. It stands where much earlier houses are known to have
stood, including one mentioned in the Domesday Book owned by the de la Porte
family.
Adjoining the house and buildings are remains of ancient fortifications which
commands two valleys. This dates back in part, it is thought to Roman times,
the remainder being probably of Saxon origin. The name Oldaport is thought to
be derived from this old fort but with water on both sides of this spur of
land old port is equally feasible.
About the area
South West Devon is an
area of outstanding natural beauty, with its glorious beaches and fascinating
walks, many of which are preserved by the National Trust. The totally unspoilt
Wonwell Beach is one and a half miles away, ideal for windsurfing, fishing and
bathing. Salcombe, Kingsbridge, and Newton Ferrers are renowned sailing centres
and there are several golf courses within a few miles.
Dartmoor in complete contrast to
the coastal area, is eight miles away. Plymouth, is less
than half an hour's drive, offers a variety of modern facilities as well as the
historic Barbican, Hoe
and Naval connection.
