Karen & Kevin Phillips welcome you to the Field Farmhouse bed and breakfast & self catering holiday cottage, located in the picturesque Cerne Valley, near Dorchester best known for it's naked Giant carved deep in the chalk hillside.
Situated in the village of Godmanstone, these recently and beautifully renovated B & B rooms and Traditional Dorset cottages adjoin the old three storey farmhouse with breathtaking views from every window.

This cottage is an ideal base for either single or
double travellers.

This idyllic Dorset Rose covered
cottage that was once a former
stable, has been lovingly refurbished &
consists of a spacious entrance hall.

To the right a typical cottage lounge with views through the leaded windows of the country garden & hills beyond. Back in the hall to the right is a cloakroom & W/C. To the left there is a fully equipped kitchen & dinning area with stairs leading to the second floor, where there is a master double bedroom and a large family room with three single beds and cot, all with sloping ceilings & original exposed timber, complemented by a separate bathroom.
Back downstairs is a door leading to a separate stairway where upstairs there is another en-suite twin room. And downstairs a lounge / kitchen making Field Farm Cottage ideal for a large family, or family and grandparents, or older children that enjoy their independence.
Linen
Bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided within the cost of your holiday. If your stay is for longer than one week, you may have a fresh supply of linen on request.
Utilities
All electricity, heating and gas is included in the price.
Around the area
The village of Godmanstone is at the head of the valley and is only ten minutes from the county town of Dorchester, renowned for its museums, country lifestyle shops and historic tea rooms, a county much loved & inhabited by the writer & poet Thomas Hardy.
Dorchester and the surrounding area of Dorset offer a wide range of activities with ample golf courses, sea/game/course fishing, shooting, walking, bird watching, horse riding and it's situated only ten miles from the award winning sandy beach at nearby Weymouth, where there are all the seaside facilities to enjoy, alternatively take a stroll along one of our Jurassic coastal paths.
Activities
Golf:- Just 5 miles down the road we are fortunate to have Wolfdale, a superb 18 hole golf course with pro shop, licenced bar and restaurant.
Fishing:- Trout fly fishing on 4 lakes is available at Flowers Farm just 10 minutes away.
Clay Pigeon Shooting:- A fully equipped multi discipline international clay shooting ground 8 miles away. Full gun storage facilities available by arrangement with host.
Horse Riding:- There are several local riding schools and trekking centres available to suit every rider level.
Bird Watching:- Take advantage of out south coast location and arrange a guided tour around Radipole Lake and Portland Bill, and see many rare migratory visitors. Available all year.
Stunning Cliff Path Walks:- Some of the amazing views you can see along any part of the World Heritage coastline that runs along nearly the whole of the Dorset coast. There are so many spectacular walks in Dorset you'll be spoilt for choice. Godmanstone boasts a network of well kept bridle paths and unclassified roads that take you up into the Cerne Valley where you will experience some breathtaking views. Places to visit
Portland & Lulworth:- Portland with its famous Chesil Beach, imposing Tudor fort & Neolithic landscape is a prime example of man exerting his power over the landscape, whereas Lulworth cove is a much more natural setting with stunning cliff faces and the weather carved Durdle Door.
Lyme Regis & West Bay:- These beautiful seaside towns boast many attractions as well as sandy beaches and excellent restaurants. They've also stared in several films and BBC dramas.
Dorchester & Weymouth:- The ancient Roman County town of Dorchester not only boasts all the well known high street shops but also has Terracotta Warriors, Dinosaurs, Tutankhamun & Teddy Bears! Weymouth is perfect for the kids when the sun is shining with it's golden sand and shallow beach.
Beaminster & Bridport:- These busy market towns have been for many centuries the heart and soul of the thriving rural communities of West Dorset. The picturesque scenery and strong community feel of these towns shines through, making you wish you had taken the time to see them before.
Booking Information
Deposit:- We require a deposit of one third of the total holiday cost when making your reservation. The balance must be paid at least six weeks prior to your arrival. Failure to comply may result in the loss of your deposit and cancellation of your holiday.
Cancellations:- Cancellations must be made in writing to us at least six weeks before your holiday date. We will make every effort to re-let, but if we are unsuccessful you will be required to pay the full cost of your holiday. Please therefore ensure that you arrange appropriate holiday insurance.
Arrival and Departure The Cottage is available from Friday at 3-30pm and must be vacated by10-30am on the following Friday.
Miscellaneous:- A cot and high chair are available by request. Unfortunately there are no facilities for dogs.
