Stowford Lodge Self Catering Cottages are situated in the heart of rural Devon's Tarka-the-Otter country. The picturesque and secluded location of Stowford Lodge holiday accommodation gives the perfect base for a leisurely and peaceful country self-catering holiday.
The self-catering cottages at Stowford Lodge have been sympathetically
converted from Victorian stone farm buildings grouped around a gravelled
courtyard. A wealth of original features have been retained, and generous use
has been made of natural wood finishing, with exposed beams and high ceilings.
The Cottages
All cottages are non smoking and are fully equipped with modern facilities and have TV and DVD players. Electric showers over the baths. Living rooms and bedrooms are fully carpeted, and heating is by wall mounted electric convector heaters. Barbecues are available for the use of visitors. There is an additional deep freeze capacity, washing machine, tumble drier and ironing facilities available in the laundry room of the main house. (A small charge is made for use of the laundry facilities).Plenty of space is available for off-road car parking, and undercover storage is available for bicycles.
All four cottages have one additional cot.
Warren and Halcyon Cottages have wheelchair access but are not specifically equipped for the disabled user.
Warren Cottage - sleeps up to six persons

Located on the east side of the courtyard, with rear access to the orchard area from the living room and one of the bedrooms.
Three bedrooms - one double and two twin bedded rooms. Living room with kitchen area, bathroom. Electric shower over bath.

Located on the north side of the courtyard, with rear access to the orchard area from the living room.
Two bedrooms - one double and one twin bedded room. Living room, separate kitchen (off living room) and bathroom. Electric shower over bath.

Located on the east side of the courtyard, with access from the archway. Living room with kitchen area downstairs.

Swimming Pool:- We have an indoor heated swimming pool (known as the 'Sheep Dip'!) located in the old 'roundhouse' of the farm for the exclusive use of visitors to Stowford Lodge. 20ft x 10ft and 4ft deep - lovely and warm, super fun and exercise for all ages, whatever the season and whatever the weather.
Stowford Lodge is situated in about 6 acres of private pasture land comprising of an orchard, with a safe and wonderfully spacious children's play area and a small paddock. There are two climbing frames, a 14ft trampoline and a variety of smaller toys available for use in the play area. There is also a one acre field ideal for kite flying, dog walking, rugby, football or cricket enthusiasts alike. In addition to this there is a large field that is used for horse grazing and home to a handful of free range hens and ducks. For unspoilt views across the Devon countryside, why not take a stroll around our immature tree plantation? The sunsets can be quite magnificent from this vantage point.

Electricity is charged at cost based on meter readings.
Bed linen - sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases are provided. A baby's cot (no linen) and high chair can be provided on request. Towels are available on request for an extra charge of £2 per week per person (one bath towel and one hand towel). Cleaning materials are provided in the cottages.

Great Torrington town square and the newly refurbished Pannier Market, as featured in the drama series "Down to Earth" on BBC One, is only 3 miles away. Home to Dartington Crystal and RHS Gardens Rosemmor and the newly opened 1646 Civil War Centre. Tarka Country is on our doorstep, Weare Giffard being the birth place of Tarka the Otter and offering access to the Tarka Cycle Trail; bikes are available to hire locally.
We are centrally placed for visiting Devon and Cornwall, all of which has plenty to offer the visitor for 'places to visit' and 'things to do'. Westward Ho, Instow, Clovelly, Bucks Mills offering safe beaches are no more than a short car journey away. Ideal base for sea trips to Lundy Island from Bideford or Ilfracombe. Dartmoor and Exmoor are also within easy reach.
Supermarkets:- Morrison's, Sainsburys, Tesco and Somerfield are nearby and Tesco will deliver to Stowford Lodge. Great Torrington also has a wide range of local produce available in the town.
Golf:- Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a wide choice of golf courses with many of them within a 10 mile radius.
