Alpine Grove is nestled into the South Coast Countryside in South Somerset,
bordering both Devon & Dorset Counties, is this unique rural Camping and
Caravanning Touring Park and Log Cabin Retreat. This quiet, level oak woodland
site is set in 8.5 acres of parkland with pitches naturally screened by
rhododendrons amongst the mature oaks, beeches & birches surrounded by abundant
wildlife of flora & fauna.
Regularly used for weekend breaks as well as weekly / fortnightly holidays you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and escape the trappings of modern life. Use the site as a stop on your way down to Cornwall to break up the long journey
Alpine Grove Log Cabins
Our first Cabin completed in Summer/ Autumn
2006, Our second Cabin was completed for Spring/ Summer 2007. They
are real solid round wood log cabins encircled by trees for your privacy yet
open enough to let sunlight through. We aim to give you that cosy, romantic log
cabin retreat experience with a solid wood burner, skylights over the beds for
star gazing and a balcony for dining al-fresco. There are some lovely scenic
circular walks starting from Alpine Grove.
Our fully equipped bespoke log cabin is exclusively designed for all your needs and is perfect for all year round short breaks or even a long holiday.
The lounge, kitchen and dining room are open plan and arranged with modern day living in mind.
The kitchen:- is fitted with a gas hob & electric fan oven, dishwasher, fridge/ freezer, microwave and all the crockery you will require.
The lounge:- has a colour lcd television with dvd
player. The cast iron wood burner is your focal point creating warmth and a cosy
atmosphere. A patio door leads to the balcony.
The Dining Area:- consists of table & chairs with a picture window to spot the resident wildlife and overlooking a private area serving the log cabin. A skylight is positioned over the table area which helps bring the woodland into the cabin.
The bathroom:- has a very generous sized modern shower cubicle and the cabin itself has wider doorways. The second cabin has a bath with curved shower within it.
There are two bedrooms:- at the rear of the cabin which
are cosy and tastefully decorated. There is one double bedroom with plenty of
room for a cot and a skylight over the bed. Plus a triple bedroom (bunk beds
with a double bed as the base)The second bedroom in our latest cabin has 2
single beds arranged as a standard bunk bed with a single alongside creating 3
single beds, a twin bedded room or slid together to create. a double. 
One cabin is Pet Friendly and both cabins operate a Non Smoking Policy.
Children's Play area
Children are occupied with a play area and a giant trampoline complete with
safety enclosure netting, plus the abundance of safe cycle and walking tracks
within the park to explore and play safely. The woods are great for den
building. Try and complete the scavenger trail and receive a prize.
Swimming Pool
We also have our own outdoor heated swimming pool (82 degrees F) which is positioned in a sun trap complimented with sun loungers.
Shop
There is a small on-site shop selling general provisions including local produce. We support our local farming community by selling their free range eggs, bacon, sausages and honey. Additionally we offer confectionary, drinks, ice cream, pocket money toys and postcards.
Around the area
With 3 different customs and traditions of the 3 adjoining counties of South Somerset, Dorset & Devon there is plenty to see & enjoy.
The historic town of Chard is only 2 miles away (the birthplace of powered flight).
The South Coast, Lyme Regis, is only 20 minutes away with its famous & picturesque Cobb, beach and world renowned fossil beaches.
Cricket St. Thomas Wildlife Park is only 2 miles away offering a superb wildlife experience to all the family.
Forde Abbey (one of the top 10 gardens in the country) is only 2.5 miles away and in the summer, fruit picking is not to be missed.
At the beach resort of Seaton (25 minutes away) is a tramway
Also nearby is the National Trust Montacute House.
And for adventure, Diggerland offers a real JCB experience.
Activities
For cyclists, either follow the level cycle network path to Illminster or for the fit & healthy perhaps try the 80 mile South Somerset circular cycle route which travels past the campsite.
For walkers & dog owners, a public footpath on the Eastern boundary of the Camping & Caravanning site runs North towards Chard Reservoir Nature Reserve, where fishing permits are available, and South towards Perry Street and the nearest pub just over 1 mile away for good food & drink.
In reception two circular walks from the campsite enjoy different scenery and easy enough for the smaller family members.
Golf is available at the nearby Wind Whistle Golf Club (2 miles) with both greens & driving range.
Horse riding (approx 5 miles) for beginners to jockeys.
Other nearby activities includes tennis, cinema, boat trips and a lot more.
