St Martin's, Shanklin Old Village, is one of two detached houses built in 1998 in the grounds of Westhill Manor, once the haunt of the Kray brothers!

Accommodation

St Martin’s is a bright, sunny modern house, newly and extensively equipped with all comforts. Full gas central heating included.

Upstairs:-  it has four double bedrooms, two with adjoining shower rooms, and a large family bathroom.

St Martin's, Shanklin IOW Double room The largest bedroom has pretty views over to Shanklin Down and St Martin’s Down. You can also watch cricket from this window. The house faces east/west so it seems sunny all day long.

A striking staircase descends to the spacious hall. Off this is a small room which we use as a children’s playroom.

The kitchen:- is compact (ie. not big enough to eat in) well equipped with range cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, washing machine, dryer, wok, saucepans, china, cutlery etc. St Martin's, Shanklin IOW  Kitchen

There is also a downstairs cloakroom.


Outside:-
 is a small paved courtyard garden, surrounded by coloured shrubs, and also made interesting by the old garden wall remaining from the Manor. We have a seat in the arbour and there is a garden table and chairs and a barbeque. The garden is reasonably dog and child proof (whether you want to keep them in or out!).

There is further decking on the east side of the house — A good place for breakfast on those sunny mornings.

Garage:- There is a secure garage where you can store toys, golf clubs, and bicycles, but not the car, and which we have set up for dogs to sleep. There  is a coat rail to hang wet coats on if you have been on a wet hike and also another fridge with a freezer.

There is parking for up to three cars.

St Martin's is a non smoking house.

Around the area

Shanklin has much to offer and the beach is only a ten minute walk across the Mead.

The Mead is a recreation ground with children’s swings two minutes from the house through the woods, with the old church behind.

The church has a renowned display of rhododendrons in the spring in so many different colours.

The area has something to offer everyone whether it be  beaches, walking, fossils, scenic views, pretty villages and cottages, stately homes (oh Osborne), galleries, donkey sanctuary, wildlife, flowers, gardens (Ventnor Botanical Gardens), zoos (Flamingo Park), eight golf courses, tennis, swimming pools, skating, riding, sailing, squash at Sandown, bowls, cream teas, boat trips or coach trips. Wherever you want to go on the island “it is not very far”.

Tariff

Rates are from £325 per week in winter to £925 in high season.

There is no separate charge for electricity and gas.

We provide duvets and pillows; please bring your own linen and towels.

There is a reduction of £50 for a consecutive second and subsequent week.

For a party of four or less, we offer a 10% discount.

We are pleased to accommodate short periods of a minimum of three nights, where we can. The charge is £50, plus pro-rata to the daily rate.

When you are ready to make a booking, phone to agree the available dates. Please confirm this by e-mail giving your name, address and phone numbers, the size of your party, and where you found us, if we do not already have this in writing. We will hold your chosen dates for you for a few days. As soon as we receive your deposit cheque for £150, we will confirm the firm booking to you by post.

Please also let us have full payment of the rental three weeks before your visit. We will send you the key two weeks before your visit. Your deposit will be refunded after your visit subject to any damage
