We are offering the Granary for holidays, for those coming to enjoy the peace and quiet of our rural backwater, in this superb Border country .Well behaved dogs will naturally be welcome

Granary Cottage is surrounded by magnificent views reaching over 30 miles.  We are located on a hillside overlooking the Teviot Valley. You may walk from the cottage in any direction onto local pathways. Longer walks include the Southern Upland Way, the north end of the Pennine Way and Deere Street. 

The Granary is situated at the heart of our small grass farm, high on the hill-side , just two miles from the town of Jedburgh , which lies on the A68 trunk road half-way between Newcastle and Edinburgh , both of which have airports linking to Heathrow.

Our business is breeding and training Labradors and Spaniels, mostly for the gun but also obedience work. We send trained dogs and puppies all over the world and have a great many overseas visitors to the kennels. Guests are welcome to bring their dogs,

Edward offers "dog handler" tuition for guests when this fits in with the busy schedule here at Lanton Hill.

Granary Cottage Accommodation

The Granary itself , is a completely renovated stone building , lined throughout ,warm , cosy, light and airy, with a Rayburn cooker , central heating and double glazing. Furnished and decorated to a high standard, central heating, a log burning fire and every modern convenience to make your stay comfortable. 2 double bedrooms down stairs and an occasional settee for an additional adult or children upstairs in the main living area. All linen provided, Cot available on request.

Bedrooms

Double Divan Bedroom:- Comfortably furnished and decorated. Cupboards, Victorian chair and clothes hanging space.

Twin Single Divan Bedroom:- Comfortably furnished and decorated. Tallboy, Chest of Drawers and bedside cabinet.

Spacious upstairs Gallery/Sitting Room:- with Log-burner, TV, three piece suite, occasional tables, Turkish and Afghan rugs. Door leading into garden and Horse Gin.

Gallery/Sitting Room Library end:- with writing table, rocking chair, bed settee, and music system.

The kitchen:-  large living kitchen provides a dish-washer, washing machine , fridge and freezer , place setting for six etc. All linens and fuels are included the price , as an owner managed holiday home , we aim to give our clients every care and comfort ,while here with us at Lanton Hill.

Downstairs bathroom:- with power-shower over bath, WC, wash hand basin with shaver point. Towels available on request.

Around the area

The area abounds with great houses, castles, monasteries and abbeys, all along the Tweed valley, from Peebles in the west , to Berwick upon Tweed on the east coast.

The Borders are famous for Ancient Abbeys, Monuments and Castles, along the banks of the River Tweed, from Peebles to Berwick Upon Tweed. Holy Island and Edinburgh are within easy daily reach.

Edinburgh is just fifty miles distant, being such an attractive, historic and vibrant city to visit, especially in the summer for the world famous Festival, or winter, for the equally exciting Hogmanay celebrations .

Closer to Lanton Hill, are the border mill towns of Jedburgh, Kelso, Hawick , Melrose and Selkirk , each with their own identity and different appeal. Woollen mill shops abound, the Cashmere centre at Hawick , the Selkirk glass factory, Sir Walter Scots home at Abbotsford, Smailholm Tower and Floors Castle are but some of the visitors attractions of wide appeal.

Activities

All sports are locally available in due season, fishing, shooting and golf etc.

Shooting and fishing can be arranged, in the area and ,of course walking and bird watching can be enjoyed straight from the front door, in any direction. In fact the Borders can cater for all tastes, having many excellent golf courses and other sporting facilities close by. 

Tariff

Christmas, Easter and Spring Bank Holiday                            £500.00 per week.

May, June, July August and September                                    £400.00 per week.

April and October                                                                    £350.00 per week.

November, December, January, February and March               £300.00 per week.

Day rates are available for weekends and mid-week breaks.

£50.00 per day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

£80.00 per day Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Dog and Handler training with Edward, £25.00 per hour.
