Willie and Sheena Nicolson offer you a warm Gaelic welcome to their small farm set in a beautiful "lost" valley in the Highlands of Scotland. We are situated just a few miles off the beautiful Road to the Isles leading to the Kyle of Lochalsh and the Skye Bridge, and only 8 miles from the world famous Eilean Donan Castle. The picturesque village of Plockton and the beautiful Isle of Skye are each only 30 minutes' drive away
The Cottages
Our cottages are strategically sited around the farm to allow for maximum
privacy and have been purposely built with your comfort in mind. We try to cater
for most tastes and pockets and have a range of accommodation to suit offering
good quality, affordable, pet friendly, self-catering cottages
and hostel / bunkhouse accommodation. (Suitable for couples or larger family
groups. Our cottages are all very well-equipped and, important for walkers
especially, all have excellent drying facilities.
Faery Fort - sleeps 6
Access for the disabled is available by means of a ramp to the door.
A newly built property sleeping up to 6 in two double and one twin bedroom.
Upstairs:- has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with bath, w.c. and basin.
Downstairs:- has one bedroom and a w.c. and shower cubicle.
The Living / Dining and fully fitted kitchen area:- is open plan with tiled
flooring.
The cottage is heated by oil central heating (underfloor on the ground floor) and has also a wood burning stove in the lounge. (TV, Video/Radio).
All heating and electricity is included in the rent. (Logs for the stove cost £3.00 per bag).
Sleeps up to 6 in one double, one twin and a double sofa bed on the upper floor which has also a games room with table tennis, small pool table and darts.
The living / dining and fully fitted kitchen area:- are open plan. The bathroom has a bath, w.c., shower cubicle, and wash basin. The lodge is heated by electric (white meter) central heating. TV/video / radio.
All heating and electricity included in rent.
Sleeps six in one double en suite bedroom, one twin en suite bedroom and one
twin bedroom (note, there is no bath).
The kitchen:- has a fridge/ freezer, washing machine, microwave and gas cooker.
The sitting area:- has a TV and a good supply of books. There is an
adjacent drying room (shared) and a large games room (shared) with table tennis,
snooker and darts.
This cottage is excellent for children. Heating is by oil central heating. All heating and electricity is included in the rent.
Very basic accommodation with 3 double bedrooms, shower room and WC. Small
dining and cooking area with gas cooker and microwave.
Sitting area in adjacent games room. Heating is by electric panel heaters included in rent.
Around the area
We have numerous good walks from the cottage door. The Five Sisters mountain range is 20mins drive and the Falls of Glomach (Britain 's highest waterfall) is a 4 to 5 hour walk away.
If you are planning to do some walking while you are here, we recommend you come equipped with walking boots if you have them, as not all of the terrain is appropriate for trainers!
Eilean Donan Castle is 8 miles and the ancient Brochs of Glenelg are about 40 minutes' drive.
The Isle of Skye bridge is a 30 minute drive from us (we can supply you with concessionary tickets). The picturesque village of Plockton is 45minutes drive.
Activities
We have a limited number of mountain bikes available for cycling locally and a small 4/5 seater boat for fishing on nearby Loch Long. See our tariff page for costs. Wild brown trout fishing is available.
Horse riding is available 4 miles away.
At Kyle of Lochalsh there is an interesting sea trip available in a glass bottom boat and from Plockton Callum will take you in his boat to view seals in their natural environment
A booking deposit of one third of the weekly rental is required with all properties, except the hostel bunkhouse
