Portsonachan is steeped in history, and the Clan Campbell stronghold of Kilchurn Castle stands at the north eastern end of Loch Awe.

We offer a variety of very comfortable and individual holiday homes set in our estate grounds of around 100 acres and they range from individual 3 bedroom lodges which sleep 7/8 to cosy studio apartments which sleep 2.

All our lodges and apartments are double glazed and fully heated so be it summer or winter, you will always be comfortable and warm in the pleasing ambiance of their relaxing soft décor.

Lodges

5 X 3 Bedroom lodge (Hillside) Sleep 7/8

Accommodation comprises of:- Fully equipped kitchen with dining area for 8, with dishwasher, washing machine, full fridge, full cooker, and a microwave.Lounge with wide screen colour TV and DVD player, HiFi, sauna, exercise room, main bathroom, second bathroom/shower, bedroom one (double bed with built in wardrobe and free standing dressing table), bedroom two (twin beds with free standing wardrobe and dressing table), bedroom three either double full size bunk bed or a single 3'6" single (please notify us in advance of your requirement) plus a further sofa bed in the lounge to sleep two (4" sprung mattress). The lodge sits on the side of the loch with its own veranda and fully built in barbecue plus external table to seat 8 and fantastic views over the Loch.
Price for a week:-  £450.00 low season to £800.00 peak season inclusive of a full mid-week service and all linen and towels etc. but exclusive of electricity which is charged at 11p per unit of consumption.
Short Breaks:-  in a 3 bedroom lodge are available for a min 3 night stay from £50 per night.

2 x 2 Bedroom Lodge (Hillside) Sleep 6

Accommodation comprises of:- As above except there is no washing machine or exercise room but the main bedroom has an en-suite and the main bathroom has both a sauna and a full power shower. These units have a first floor lounge and kitchen diner and are in an elevated position overlooking the loch with views for approximately 15 miles.

Price for a week:- from £350.00 low season to £750.00 peak season inclusive of a full mid week service and all linen and towels etc. but exclusive of electricity which is charged at 11p per unit of consumption.
Short Breaks:-  in a 2 bedroom lodge are available for a min 3 night stay from £50 per night.

2 x 1 Bedroom Lodge (Hillside) Sleep 4

Accommodation comprises of:- One double bedroom with en-suite, lounge, dining area and fittings as in 2 bed Lochside units. Elevated position overlooking the Loch with magnificent views for several miles down the loch.

Price for a Week:-  £350.00 low season to £595.00 for peak season inclusive of a full mid week service and all linen and towels etc. but exclusive of electricity which is charged at 11p per unit of consumption.
Short Breaks and single nights:-  in a 1 bedroom lodge are available from £40 per night.

Lochside Suites

10 x 1 Bedroom Lochside Suites Sleep 4

Accommodation comprises of:- Spectacular units with large double bedroom with integrated Villroy & Boch bathroom, full HiFi system and colour TV with DVD player.

Ground floor wet shower room, full kitchen including dishwasher, lounge with leather sofas (one of which is a sofa bed with 4" sprung mattress), patio with seating on the loch shore, full central heating and double glazing with large patio doors affording unbelievable views over the surrounding area.

There is private parking in dedicated unit parking and highland slate flooring so that the unit is outdoor pursuits friendly.

18th Century Coach House18th Century Coach House - Apartment

The Coach House consists of a mixture of 2 bedroom, 1 bedroom and studio apartments.

Ness:-  is a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. Lugnaig:-  is a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment. There are also 4 Coach House Studio Apartments with bathrooms (see below for more details) and 6 Coach House 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartments. One of these apartments is a one bedroom apartment called 'Rannoch' which is a single level disabled unit. 'Ness' is also disabled friendly as it is all on one level.

4 x Coach House Studio Apartments Sleep 218th Century Coach House - Apartment

Accommodation comprises of:- Stylish and cosy apartments featuring a full bathroom with full size bath and integral shower, full kitchen, HiFi, Colour TV and DVD player and sofa style double bed. Cosy apartment ideal for a couple and providing all the amenities at a budget price

Prices:- (all prices are inclusive of a full mid week service and all linen and towels etc. but exclusive of electricity which is charged at 11p per unit of consumption)

Price for the 1 bedroom apartments per week:- from £285.00 low season to £575.00 peak season respectively.

Short Breaks and Single Nights:-  are available in 1 bedroom apartments from £40 per night.

Price for the 2 bedroom apartments per week:-
from £350.00 low season to £695.00 peak season respectively.

Price for a Studio Apartment per week:- from £250.00 low season to £375.00 peak season respectively.

Short Breaks and Single Nights:- are available in studio apartments from £40 per night.

Pets:-  Dogs are permitted but attract a small charge of £2.50 per day whilst staying at the estate and are welcome in public areas except when food is being served.

All lodges and apartments are non smoking.

Welcome Packs:-  Welcome packs are available on request and can be tailored to your needs but the standard pack consists of milk, bread, butter/Flora, tea bags, bacon, eggs, coffee, orange juice, jams & honey, cornflakes, tomatoes, mushrooms, cooking oil, salt & pepper, vinegar.

Activities:- Fishing, Golfing around the Loch Awe area, There are plenty of local courses one can play around the hotel, most within a 1/2 hour drive.

Boating on Loch Awe:- Boats can be obtained at the hotel by booking with the reception staff. It is advised that you book the night before you wish to use the boat.

Sporting & shooting:-
 The Hotel can organise all types of sporting activities; please enquire about the range of options available from rough shooting to stalking.

Sailing & Boat owners:- For sailors or boat lovers we do have a full slipway, dock and moorings for the use of residents. We charge a standard weekly fee of £30.00 which includes a launch and recovery plus either a mooring for the week or a berth in the dock. The Loch is 27 miles long and fresh water and affords the most magnificent boating environment for all types of use. The Loch lends itself to all sorts of water sports including wind surfing, yachting and water skiing and we do have a launch operating in the summer on an hourly rate for those who wish to water ski.

Mountain bikes:-  The Hotel also offers for hire a selection of mountain bikes of various sizes with which guests can take advantage of the extensive open countryside and enjoy some healthy exercise.

Walking and hill walking:-  There is a profusion, both close at hand and within a short drive, of some the most astounding walking to be found anywhere in the world. Try Glen Orchy (9 Miles) or Glencoe (35 miles) or just walk out of our front door and on up into the hills. Whatever your walking desire is, you will be able to satisfy it in this wonderful area.

For Ornithologists:- Again you are spoilt for choice from ospreys to sea eagles right through to the mighty golden eagle and back to the humble robin who, if you do not watch out, will invite himself to your lunch.

Around the area:- Inveraray Jail is just 25 minutes drive away. Originally the county courthouse and jail for Argyll in the 1820s, this attraction has many activities and displays enabling visitors to experience the old Scottish penal system. Inveraray Castle is the stately headquarters of the Clan Campbell and home to the Duke and Duchess of Argyll.  The Hydro Electric power station on Ben Cruachan is only one of three stations of this type in the world. It is a marvel of both engineering and nature conservation. The main visible part of the station is the actual dam itself.
