The Deckhouse is a luxurious, Self-Catering rental
holiday cottage located in the picturesque village of Craobh Haven in Argyll on
the West Coast of Scotland. Sleeps up to 4 persons. The cottage is surrounded by
stunning scenery with wonderful unspoilt sea views of the yacht marina and many
Scottish islands.
Craobh Haven is easy to find, south of the well-known town of Oban, about half way between Oban and Lochgilphead.
Situated in the historic heart of Scotland between Oban
and Lochgilphead, ideal for exploring lochs and glens, local history, touring,
walking, riding, golfing, sailing, cycling, fishing, watching wildlife or simply
relaxing looking at the beautiful sunsets.
The Islands of The Inner Hebrides- notably, Mull, Iona, Jura, Islay, Tiree,
Colonsay and Barra, can all be easily reached by ferry from Oban and boat trips
are also available from the marina at Craobh Haven.
As well as the busy 250 berth marina and chandlery the village also boasts a
well stocked store and the local pub/restaurant- 'The Lord of The Isles',
producing excellent dining and bar meals for all the family. 
Living room
Comprising two double sofas, remote control widescreen TV with sky family
package included, DVD player, CD player with radio and selection of games, books
and maps.
Also to keep the children (or grown ups) amused in an evening or if it rains
there is a play station 2 and flat screen TV. Probably best to take your own
games although we have provided one or two.
Dining room
Part of the living room with full dining table and chairs for 6 people to
enjoy great nights in looking through the patio doors to the patio area, marina
and sea views beyond to the islands.
Kitchen
Separate kitchen overlooking the front garden. Fridge/freezer, microwave
oven, automatic washing machine and dryer, electric oven and hob, kettle,
toaster and various crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and cooking utensils.
Bedroom 1
Overlooking the front of the property comprising of a double bed and
large full length built in wardrobe.
Bedroom 2
Overlooking the marina with sea views this twin or double room comprises
two single 'zip-link' beds which can be joined together to form one king-size
double bed if required.
This room also comprises of a large full length built in wardrobe and a wash
hand basin.
Gardens
There is a small lawned area to the front of the cottage which is not enclosed
and therefore small children and pets must be supervised at all times.
To the rear of the cottage is a garden which consists mainly of a patio and
decked area with steps leading down to the private car parking area which can
easily accommodate 2 cars and is denoted by red gravel.
Care should be taken on the steps particularly when wet. On the patio is a BBQ
and small bistro table and chairs and on the deck there is hardwood garden table
and chairs and parasol, enough to enjoy an outdoor meal of an evening
overlooking the marina.
Pets
We allow only 1 dog which must be well behaved and kept off the soft furnishings and not allowed upstairs. We ask that you clear up any dog mess on the lawn or anywhere around the cottage. There are many places to take them for walks.
Information
The cottage will have been cleaned and all beds made up prior to your
arrival. Should you require a clean and change of bed linen and towels during
tour stay this can be arranged with 2 days notice and for an extra charge. For
stays of two or three weeks there will be a clean and change of bed linen and
towels at the end of the 1st and 2nd week at no extra charge.
The cottage is heated with thermostatically controlled electric panel heaters
with timers. Electricity is included in the price.
The Area and attractions
This part of Scotland has plenty of ruined and habited castles and many sites of architectural and historical interest to visit. Kilmartin house, just south from the cottage, houses an archaeology centre.

Oban is about 18 miles North of Craobh Haven and
has most of the ferry routes and daily boat trips to the Isles. | |

Mull, which has many popular tourist
attractions-Miniature steam railway, distillery, Tobermory and more, can
easily be explored within a day from the cottage by taking the ferry from
Oban, as can Iona and Jura. | |
|
Argyll is renowned for its many fine gardens such
as Crarae Garden, and just 5 mins from the cottage on the way to Oban is
Arduaine Gardens. | |
|
There are many places to eat within a few miles
including the few miles including the ‘Lord of the Isles’ pub and restaurant
within the village of Craobh Haven, and the Loch Melfort Hotel just 5
minutes away beside Arduaine Gardens. | |

Within a short drive there are many more places of
interest including Loch Awe, Oban Marine, Seal centre, Rare Breeds Farm,
Inverary Jail, Inverary Castle, Argyll Wildlife Park, Auchindrain Township
Museum | |

There is good fishing available around the coast or in nearby lochs and rivers. Boat trips can be organised to the ‘Corrievreckan’ – the largest whirlpool in Europe and to the surrounding islands where seals, otters and possibly corncrakes can be seen. | |

Mountain bike trails, Water sports, Horse riding and
Golf are all at hand. | |
|
For horse enthusiasts there is a BHS approved Ardfern
Riding Centre offering Trekking, Western Riding and Hacking on Appaloosa
horses. Organised boat trips are available on the motor launch Farsain from
the Marina. | |

There are many spectacular walks from the doorstep of the cottage and it is also possible to walk to the village of Ardfern which boasts the popular pub ‘The Galley of Lorne’, a yachting marina and ‘The Crafty Kitchen’ café |
Tariff
From £300 to £700 per week depending on season.
The Cottage is sometimes available for 2/3 night weekends or mid week letting. Please enquire.
