Each holiday cottage makes an ideal base from which to explore the rich and varied heritage of the Isle of Skye.  Five minutes by car brings you to Skye's most picturesque fishing village, where you will find both the Stein Inn - the oldest Inn on Skye - and the renowned Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant. A  further ten minutes will take you to Dunvegan with shops, restaurants and Dunvegan Castle - seat of the Clan Macleod, or a half-hour and you can explore Portree - the island's capita

Waternish is the perfect holiday destination for hill walkers, mountain climbers, artists, writers, photographers, cyclists, whale watchers, birdwatchers, wildlife enthusiasts or simply for lovers of the great outdoors. Right from your doorstep you can explore a number of beautiful coastal, hill and forest walks. There are often sightings of a great variety of sea birds, golden eagle and, if you are lucky, a sea eagle - in addition to marine wildlife such as seals, dolphins, porpoise, whales and basking sharks. Bitacora is a newly built and luxuriously well appointed self catering holiday home set in an elevated position on the hillside, benefiting from spectacular sea views of Loch Dunvegan, Ardmore Bay and across the Minch to the  Western Isles. Bitacora has a 5-star rating from the Scottish Tourist Board. Bitacora is our better property but it still needs external painting to make it look its best. Guests will be delighted on arrival to discover their own personal ‘welcome basket’ containing luxury items and local produce (non-discounted weeks only).

Bedrooms

2 double bedrooms and 2 single bedrooms. The master bedroom has en-suite facilities and flat screen wall-mounted TV.  The spacious 'wet room' style family bathroom has a superior spa bath, large open-plan shower area, wash hand basin & WC.

Lounge

Every thought for convenience and comfort have been invested in the large, light and airy lounge with Sky satellite television, comfortable furnishings and sea views. 

Kitchen/Dining Room

The adjacent open plan kitchen/dining room offers every facility required to make your stay simply perfect, including Denby crockery, washer/dryer and dish washer. A ‘cross trainer’ positioned in front of the large patio doors gives guests the opportunity to ‘work off’ any holiday indulgences whilst enjoying the fabulous sea views. Garden

Direct outdoor access to a large patio enables guests to maximise their enjoyment of this wonderful location - ideal for outside dining, wildlife watching, or just whiling away a few hours with a good book.

The property is set within a fenced garden which includes a spacious parking area. 

Around the area

Within a five minute drive is the historic hamlet of Stein. Originally conceived in the eighteenth century as a model fishing village, Stein today is home to the the Stein Inn, reputed to be the oldest inn on Skye. Just a few steps from the Inn is Dandelion Designs craft shop / gallery and at the end of the terrace you'll find the renowned Lochbay Seafood Restaurant. 

And, with craftspeople such as the Skyeskyns sheepskin fleece tannery and showroom, Shilasdair Yarns, Halistra Pottery and Brae Fasach Gallery your days could be filled with discovering traditional skills.  Or you could take a tour round Waternish - brimming with history and interests including Dun Hallin (an ancient iron age hill fort), the ruins of Trumpan Church, scene of a great clan battle at Ardmore between the MacDonalds of Uist and the MacLeods of Dunvegan in 1578 or many fascinating walks such as the one through Waternish Forest down to the black coral shores of Score Bay.
