4 self-catering cottages in Argyll, Scotland
Ardachearnbeg Farmhouse Cottages are situated in the Glen surrounded by beautiful hills yet only an hour and a bit from Glasgow Airport and has easy access via one of the shortest sea ferry crossings in the world to the Island of Bute.
The cottages are the original outbuildings of a traditional 18th century farm which has been renovated to the highest standard using where possible, original features and items.
All properties have oil-fired central heating and double-glazing throughout. All fuel, power and bed linen is included in the rent. Towels are available for an additional charge .A cot and high chair are available but should be booked in advance. Available in each cottage is a selection of indoor and outdoor games and activities.
Dairy Cottage - sleeps 4
It has been tastefully renovated and is fitted with all modern conveniences.
Accommodation consists of:- Entry porch with drying area
leads to a large open plan lounge with dining and kitchen areas.
A sliding french window leads to the private patio and garden.
From the lounge a hallway leads to the bedrooms and
bathrooms:-
1 double bedroom with en suite bathroom (bath/shower, toilet and hand basin);
1 twin bedroom,
1 shower room with shower, toilet and hand basin.
All accommodation is on one level and the lounge, double bedroom and en-suite
bathroom are accessible to wheelchairs.
The Steadings

The Steadings have been converted into three units. 'The Haven (left), The Hayloft (upper apartment) and The Stables (ground apartment)'
All three units are self-contained and available separately.
The Stables and the Hayloft share a common external entry door and hall but have their own lockable main doors. There is the also an option to unlock a connecting passageway between the Haven and the Stables thus giving internal access to all three units - ideal for large groups or extended families.
The Haven - sleeps 6.
Accommodation comprises of:- 1 double and 2 twin bedrooms. The large sitting room has dining and kitchen areas. A back door from the utility room accesses a private patio beside the burn and shared garden area;
One of the twin bedrooms is on the ground floor with adjacent bathroom with
toilet, hand basin and shower above the bath.
Upstairs there is 1 double bedroom (king sized bed), 1 twin bedded room and a
shower room with toilet and hand basin.
Facilities include:- Ample car parking, TV, video, washing machine, tumble drier, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, garden furniture. Across the burn there is a gas barbecue on a paved barbecue area shared with the Stables and the Hayloft.
The Stables - sleeps 4.
Accommodation consists of:- an open plan lounge with kitchen and dining area, 1 double room, 1 twin room (bunk beds) and shower room with toilet. The twin room is not big and is best suited for children.
Facilities include:- Ample car parking, TV, video, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher. A telephone point is available but a week's notice is required to connect the line. A washing machine and a tumble drier are shared with the Hayloft in the adjacent boiler room. there is a paved area outside with garden furniture and large gardens to relax in. On the other side of the burn there is garden furniture and a paved (gas) barbecue area for use by the Stables, the Hayloft and the Haven.

Although directly above the Stables, the Hayloft is more spacious because its
walls are less thick than the 2ft deep walls on the ground floor!
Accommodation comprises of:- an open plan lounge with kitchen
and dining areas, a double room, a twin room and a toilet with shower cubicle.
Facilities include:- Ample car parking, TV, video, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher. A washing machine and a tumble drier are shared with the Stables in the adjacent boiler room. A telephone point is available but a week's notice is required to connect the line. There is a paved area outside with garden furniture and large gardens to relax in. Across the burn there is a paved (gas) barbecue area for use by the Hayloft, the Stables and the Haven
We request no smoking in the properties and we are only able to accept pets in the Stables, but please note that we are next to a sheep farm where dogs are housed and trained.
Around the area
Glendaruel is a peaceful, scenic haven and its location makes this an ideal base for exploring Cowal, Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, Kintyre, Argyll Forest Park, Oban, Glencoe and the SW Islands especially Gigha, Mull and Iona.
Gardens, forest trails, and sporting activities, e.g. sailing/boat cruises, golf, fishing (river & loch), pony trekking, quad-biking, are within easy reach. A RYA approved sailing/windsurfing school is based in Tighnabruaich.
The Kilmodan stones are 1 mile away in the Clachan. The renowned
archaeological centre at Kilmartin is a pleasant day trip away.
Iona can also be visited on a day trip.
There is a seasonal shop 1 mile away and further shops, banking etc in Tighnabruaich (9 miles), plus a wider range of services in Dunoon (20 miles).
The local pub and restaurant is in the Clachan (village) and
there is an excellent choice of hotels and restaurants in a ten-mile radius.
Or dine in on locally produced venison, pheasant, oysters, scallops,
langoustines, salmon etc.
In the season a stretch of river is available free for salmon and trout fishing.
